While they both appear similar, spider veins tend to be thinner and relatively painless, while varicose veins are more raised, larger, painful, and problematic. Varicose vein treatments account for a majority of patients who come to our clinics. Affecting 30% of the population, varicose veins are both unpleasant to look at and often a medical concern. While spider veins can be just a cosmetic issue, varicose veins can be indicative of vein disease. Early treatment is your best option for the most effective, long-term results.
All of our doctors are board-certified and specialize in vascular health and the treatment of venous diseases.
Our doctors at Metro Vein Centers specialize in diagnosing and treating chronic venous insufficiency (a.k.a. “vein disease”). There are many factors that can lead to common diagnoses like spider veins and varicose veins, including genetics, age, pregnancy, obesity, extended standing, or extended sitting. Most cases can be addressed with minimally invasive procedures, and most patients begin seeing results in as little as a week.
During your consultation with one of our board-certified specialist vein doctors, address all symptoms you’re experiencing; pain, heaviness, aching, and/or cramping in one or both legs are symptoms that could be indicative of a greater health risk, such as blood pooling inside the legs, blood clots, or something else. Our doctors will consult with you in detail on the appropriate treatment options to address and alleviate your symptoms. Most treatments are covered by insurance and are minimally invasive.
Some of the treatments your doctor is likely to discuss with you include Sclerotherapy, Radiofrequency Ablation, Microphlebecomy, excel V+ Laser, Endovenous Laser Ablation, Varithena, and Venaseal.
All of the above treatments have passed FDA approval.
Laser or injection treatments for spider veins cost $350 per session. The appropriate medical procedures would need to be determined by a doctor and without insurance they are more expensive.
All our varicose and spider vein treatments are minimally-invasive, FDA-approved and performed by board-certified vein doctors. Treatments require only local numbing and side effects are mild. Patients may experience some minor discomfort at times and temporarily swelling and redness.
Most patients will be able to walk out on their own after a procedure. Our vein specialists recommend patients return home and stay off their feet for a few hours but can otherwise return to normal activities the next day.
Vein treatments are often covered by insurance and we do accept most insurance plans. Contact us if you have any questions about your healthcare coverage.
