Great place to get some paddling practice. I took my daughter to get her used to her kayak before we did anything more challenging. Great amenities and, from what I saw, some great fishing as well.

A very beautiful state park with lots of great features. Definitely a fisherman's paradise with a big boat launch area, lots of parking for trailers, plus a separate swimming beach, hiking trails, & rv & camp sites, plus cabins to rent. We stayed a night with an rv: the park is a bit older with smaller rv sites: great for anything about 35 feet: not any extra space for another vehicle, but they were very accommodating with overflow parking at close locations. We did the island trail that was a very pleasant walk over the bridge & onto the island: probably easy enough for just about anyone & the views were great. Such a cool contrast of the power plant across the lake & the natural setting: probably not everyone would enjoy that, but we liked it a lot. There is a very low ambient noise from the plant, but we found it very nice, rather than a bother.

Had a blast at Halloween! The park and lake are beautiful. The trick or treating was perfectly setup. Highly recommend checking out the playground for kids and island trail. Grounds and bathroom are very nice. Watch out for roots while walking in the dark! They will jump out and get you. Friendly staff and host.

Enjoyed our trail hikes, I can see the island trail being an all day play area for kids! So many trails & great places to hide & seek! It was super hot when we went, but seen several deer, tons of mushrooms, & fish (but didn't even get a bite). Great full clean restrooms with hooks & benchs in shower area. The humming of the power plant was a little annoying, but you tune it out after the 2nd night lol! Super small gift shop with tops, stickers & drinks. Enjoyed our time here & will be back.

Yes they are available to rent. We rented one for a couple of hours to canoe around the island. Beautiful scenery. And the fishing is great too. I caught like 11 in 2 hours.
You would have to call to get the exact price...sometime they have specials
Pets are not allowed in the beach swim area at any time. Your pets are welcome to swim off of the island.
Yes they have bike trails. Remember the East Texas heat and humidity in the Summer. Hydrate thoroughly.
Daniel Martin For Whom the park is named settle his family near the creek called Hogan's bayou at the time. In his neighbor's of benchley built a small Fort and then a town called Harmony Hill.
Yes. You can pitch a tent at any site, with primitive or water/electric hookups. Also great for RVs and the have screen shelters and cabins to rent.
Yes on 2681 highway
There is a ramp just left to the entrance that makes it easy to put one in.
I believe they are $ 65 a night
Unsure
I'm not a park employee, but you have to go the the Texas parks and wildlife website to reserve and pick your spot!!
Yes. But depends where your spot is how close you are. Pretty big park.
Most everywhere.
Online or at the guard shack
Rusk county
so if you buy a pass you don't need a fishing license?
They said it sounded like a person foot steps. They grabbed the stuff from in the tent and left everything else there and went back in thr daylight to get it.
Check their website. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/martin-creek-lake The cabins rent out pretty fast. I doubt they have any left for the 4th.
2 cabins are fully equipped with bathroom stove and everything then 2 cottages with air conditioner and beds
Yes
They usually do. Should be open. Nothing on their website that says otherwise...
They were some rented when we were there Friday
I have caught a few one by cast net and the other on rod and reel out there by the pier pricing the power plant that's where they're mostly at
I work at martin creek yes the park is open 365 days a year we are state run have nothing to do with goverment
Yes
Beach and swim area nice. Fishing is great because the power plant keeps water warm year round. Hiking and camping nice too.
There WAS an area near the boat launch but at this time the lilly pads are growing in and near it
No Guides are available But PFD personal floatation devices are required and they do provide them ...Enjoy...
At Martin Creek Lake State Park anyone can fish without a fishing license if you fish from the pier or bank. The entry fee is $3.00 per person 13 and older.
Not in the public area but there are many other areas you can get in the lake with your dog. Lake side camping spots would be great too.
Yes. But, bring some Sevin dust with you to dust around the wheels of your vehicle and trailer. They are having a problem with Venezuelan ants.
We rent canoes.
Oh yeah. They have multiple spots for kids to swim
Yeah the cabins vary. 40 and up
I think so. I've seen them on the lake all the time with no problem.
