The hubby & I have been here a bunch of times. There are some wonderful things about this l'il Hill Country gem - and some small improvements that, if made, would make this place super-fantastic! This weekend visit was the summer ride with 9 of us from our motorcycle club. The roads in these parts & 3 Twisted Sisters make this a stellar place. So we rented the big King cabin, and another couple that was with us, rented one of the view cabins. But this review is about the King cabin & the overall facilities. The good stuff: 1. Since there were 2 couples & 3 single guys in the King cabin, it worked out great, because there are 2 fairly good-size, private bedrooms & 4 individual beds in the loft space. And it's nice to have a stairway that goes to loft, not a ladder. 2. June in these parts means it's hot this time of year. Temps were in high 90s, so, although the King cabin has 3 window units, those kept the entire cabin nice & cool. 3. Mornings on the front porch. Quiet, With a cup of coffee, no traffic, slight breeze & pleasant early morning temps - just amazing! 4. No cell service, no WiFi. Well, there is some WiFi, depending on which area of the resort you're located. Since we were in #26 near the pool, we got no WiFi. Which, honestly was just perfect because this is the kind of place you want to relax, unwind & just get off the grid for a couple of days. So turn off that cell phone because it won't work out here. Tell your friends & family you'll be offline for awhile reconnecting with nature! They'll be fine without you. 5. The pool! And hot tub. When we weren't riding, we were chilling with a cold one (cans only, please!) in the pool! Great way to cool down on a hot afternoon. 6. Medina Highpoint is not a huge place. Doesn't have hundreds of RV spaces or cabins, and some of the cabins are bunkhouse style. So, no private bathing those; use bathhouse. 7. Bathhouse! There's several on the property with full facilities, air-conditioned, and immaculate! Since there were 7 of us & only 1 bathroom in the King cabin, it was nice to have a bathhouse located just across the driveway from the cabin. 8. Decent wicker porch/deck furniture, including a couple of side tables. (Great for chats & morning coffee) Ok, the needs improvement stuff: 1. The beds. My hubby & I are tall, not huge people, just tall. And these "double" beds are for 2 tiny people - like 10yo kid-size people, maybe? - but not for 21st Century adults! And the mattresses were hard as a rock, throw in a ' stone' pillow, you have to be pretty exhausted or pass-out drunk to get any sleep. The bedrooms are big enough that could upgrade to at least a queen-size bed with a more comfortable mattress. 2. Refrigerator. It was big, but was leaking water from freezer into fridge. We all made sure freezer & fridge were shut tight, but think seals around the doors are just worn out. The exterior was pretty beat-out too, but not a deal-breaker. 3. Oven. Don't use it! There's no temp gauge. It's stuck on broil or something. Tried to bake cornbread & the fire alarm went off! So bake stuff before you go, or just use microwave, that works ok. 4.Limited kitchen supplies. Usually when a place says it "sleeps 12", there should be adequate kitchenware. Only 1 big frying pan, no colinder, no wine/beer opener (so I bought one & left it there), no sauce pan, or larger "pasta" pot. While there was adequate tableware & cups, was lacking in cookware. 5. Says it sleeps 12. There were 7 of us. 8 would have been OK, but not 12 adults! Unless everyone is real friendly, there's not a lot of room in shared spaces: futon in living room could serve as a bed, but wasn't in great shape. Table only seats 4. (No extra tables or chairs inside). All in all, I give the place 4 stars because you can't beat the peace and quiet at Medina Highpoint RV Resort. We'll be back!

💥 We stayed at Medina Highpoint Resort for 2 weeks. We planned to stay much longer, but realized it isn’t as great as some of the reviews offered in the past. Here’s what we know from our experience... Pros: ✅ Beautiful views/area ✅ 20 mins to Kerrville (lots of restaurants & parks & activities) ✅ 20 mins to hospital/18 mins to urgent care ✅ Allows pet fencing at site ✅ Large & long sites/yards ✅ Fishing pond (though we didn’t use it) ✅ Cabins on site (we didn’t use them) ✅ Low monthly RV rate ($480) ✅ DISH satellite access ✅ Maintenance guy is AWESOME. He’s super kind and helpful. ✅ Can have packages mailed here - UPS even delivered directly to our site! ✅ Lots of deer ✅ Very quiet Cons: ☑️ High number of aggressive bees (they house bees at the property, even near the sites) ☑️ Office hours short (only matters if you need something, I guess) ☑️ Not all sites are level ☑️ RV hookups are at far back of site - which makes for long connections and potential for uphill sewer lines ☑️ ZERO cell service (LTE) ☑️ Mostly no wifi (though in some campsites it worked, but was spotty) ☑️ Washers in laundry room have disgusting soap trays (idk why no one is cleaning these!) ☑️ No dog poop bag stations ☑️ No dog poop garbage cans ☑️ No real dog park (there’s a designated “dog area,” which is not fenced in/secured at all. It has swamp areas on 2 sides and the ground is covered in sand burrs) ☑️ Cable is only 3 channels & doesn’t come through with clear picture. ☑️ No propane on-site ☑️ No change machine in laundry room (machines take quarters only) ☑️ Hot tub broken (broken before we arrived and still broken when we left 2 weeks later) ☑️ Pool is not heated & wasn’t cleaned during our 2 week stay, even though it was “open”. There was always debris in it (several days were in the 80’s while we were here) ☑️ Main office “rec area” seems rundown & zero activities were promoted (lots of missed opportunities here) Conclusion: The place would have a lot to offer, IF the owners actually invested the time and $ to make this place fully functional and up to date. But for now, it just needs a lot of work. We would not come back here to stay. ALSO - do 𝗻𝗼𝘁 come here from I-10, unless you are 24’ or less. State Highway 16 between I-10 & here is terrible to negotiate in a long vehicle or towing something larger than a pop-up! Come up from Medina while in/with your RV.

Kinda expensive, you never know when the general store will be open cuz hours vary, rv site spigot leaked, BUT the RV site was mostly level, campground quiet, nice short hiking trail on property to different observation decks, 10 min to Medina, 1/2 hour to Kerrville or Bandera, ran by nice people and beautiful views. No cell service but Wi-Fi worked well. Fire ring, they pick up your trash everyday between 10-11am, bathrooms closest to us were closed (why?) but there are other bathrooms if you wanna hoof it.

Used to be a great place to stay, we won't ever return here again. Used to have gas, food, beer and wifi. Now you get none of these for twice the amount they charged a few years ago. This place has gone down hill with new ownership.

They have a group camping area down by the pool that could be used for something like that. They also have a hall that can be rented. Take your pick.
