Questions & Answers

What are sealants?

DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020
DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020

Sealants protect the pitted surfaces of molars from cavities. It’s nearly impossible to keep those surfaces clean, so sealants provide a layer of protection! Kids from ages 6-12 benefit from sealants.

Do I really need to floss?

DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020
DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020

Yes, you do! Flossing is the best way to remove food and plaque from between teeth and below the gumline. If it isn’t removed, the plaque will turn to tartar and cause cavities and gum disease.

How often should I replace my toothbrush?

Change your toothbrush every three to four months. Bent bristles don’t clean your teeth as effectively as new, straight ones!

I’m nervous about dental treatment… Can you help?

We will do everything we can to make your visit comfortable and relaxed. We can provide sedation to calm you during your procedure. Discuss this with your dentist to figure out which sedation option is right for you.

When should I bring my child for their first dental visit?

DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020
DiMichaelangelo Family Dentistry - Sunbury | Oct 23, 2020

When your child turns one year old, it’s a great time to bring them in. Let them sit on your lap while you get your exam! We want them to become comfortable and familiar with our office and staff.

The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist twice a year for a thorough exam and cleaning. If it’s been too long, call our Sunbury, Westerville, or Columbus office for an appointment now!
