The campgrounds were nice for the most, but not as much space in between them as I'd like. Also, not as many spots, which could leave a traveler camping in the side of the road. It's right down the road from a great hike to a lake. I'd say, go for the hike and if you're too tired after, stay at the campground.

Really liked our campsite at Hamma Hamma. Lots of trails nearby, clean restrooms, the sound of the river, and a fair amount of privacy and space between campsites. I only wish there was potable (or otherwise) water on site.

Hamma Hamma was a beautiful spot on a swimmable river with a fun mile and a half trail with interesting history about the CCC's beginnings and contributions. There is NO running water and the nearest store is about 10-15 minutes up the road. A slightly more comprehensive offering is about a half hour away but the one thats closer has all of the necessities. No trash/No water!!

Great campground, water is fun to wade through. The sites are nice and varied in size and shape, and some are very close to the river, so you get to hear it while you relax. They do have firepits with attached flip over cooking grates, but I'd bring your own wood and kindling. NO POTABLE WATER, but there is a vault toilet for emergencies. Overall a wonderful place to stay the night, or even a few days or more.

Just up there yesterday and its definitely closed. There are primitive sites further along the river but several people already there.
Yes they are dog friendly, but be sure not to let your dog wander unleashed, and make sure to clean up after them, as I do believe there is a sign posted for it
