Love Dr. R! She is smart and practical. Takes great care of me. The whole SFOD is just a really good group of people.

The Doctor was good and the nurses who administer children vaccines are great! The rest of the staff however are horrible. Rude, snarky, treat you like you shouldn’t be there or they could have anything better to do in their day than be welcoming to patients. We went in to establish new primary care for me and my daughter after recently moving. I ran late for my appointment due to not being familiar with the area, called and let them know, they said I have 15 minutes to make it. I walked in at 16 minutes and was denied for the one minute as the receptionist said “the Dr’s next patient is already here”. However, not sure how Dr visits are scheduled, but my appointment was 9 and my daughters was right after me (same Dr) at 10. Anyway, I understand the policy so we waited for my daughter’s appointment and the receptionist said she will let me know when to go check her in as the time gets closer to her appointment. We left to go across the street to Starbucks because my daughter was hungry. Came back in at about 10:07 and a very rude nurse came out of the door to ask if that was the patient and told me “yeah we called her name twice already at 10” I explained we left so I could get her something to eat and she very annoyed said “I need to check if you can be seen”. We were able to. The next nurse who was doing all the Chart/paperwork for my daughter seemed like she would rather be doing anything else the whole time as well as didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable on child care. She had my 5 year old, who is about to start kindergarten, take an eye exam and tried to start with a regular letter based exam with the smallest line. I explained my daughter is just learning to recognize letters and won’t be able to do so on her own so they switched to a shape based eye exam that had things such as a plus sign and black and white flag. So naturally my 5 yr old just kept saying they were lines or number 1’s. The nurse gave up while asking me “does she even know her shapes” I replied she does but a black and while flag and a plus sign aren’t something she’ll comprehend and was met with the nurse saying “I would’ve taken at least a square as an answer” while waking out and closing the door. Then the doctor (Dr. R) came in, she was very kind, a bit rushed but did listen to anything I was asking/saying, very good Dr. Then two different nurses came in to give shots and by now I was thinking of leaving and having her go somewhere else for shots if it was the same staff we had been in contact with. However these two nurses were the BEST! They came in already telling my daughter how brave she is, they love her shoes, joking and laughing with her, waited for her to be comfortable and ready before doing any step. Asked how she was comfortable getting shots (with me or without) showed her how they are going to hold her leg and why they do that. They were so excited and proud she did good with shots they kept complimenting her. Above and beyond from those two nurses for the shots. Overall I will be switching our care from this facility due to the horrible staff there but hope to find a Dr as good as Dr. R and staff that react to patients like those two nurses we had at the end.

What are the symptoms of RSV?

Ascension | Oct 23, 2021
Ascension | Oct 23, 2021

Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV, may appear like a bad cold to adults. For infants or young children, RSV can cause bronchiolitis -- a virus which causes swelling and an increase in mucus in the airway. This can cause difficulty breathing through their nose and eventually dehydration due to difficulty latching to the breast or bottle for infants. Other symptoms of RSV may include a fever or a very wet sounding cough, which can turn into coughing fits. Those coughing fits can cause a child to gag and potentially vomit.

If you think your child has RSV or bronchiolitis, it is important to keep your child hydrated and monitor for fever or shortness of breath. Contact your child’s doctor, who can test for RSV and provide recommendations to keep your child safe at home. If your child’s health situation is serious or life-threatening, go to the nearest ER or call 911.
