This is my favorite park in the area. It’s in a neighborhood and has quite a bit of wooded area for a city park. There’s a zoo nearby for animals that can’t be released into the wild. There’s a pool and basketball court. Lots of turtles reside in the lake. It’s a bonus when you spot the Great Blue Heron. The walk around the walk is less than a 1000 steps. The playground is nice and clean. They have restrooms nearby. There are quite a few pavilions that you can rent out for parties and birthdays. This is family friendly park. The dog park is nice but I had to leave the last couple of times because of problematic dogs. I’m so glad this is available right in the middle of Athens!!!

A very beautiful park. There is a walking trail that is paved. It goes around the entire lake. We came at the end of summer and there were 30+ turtles we saw. There are a few covered pavilions and picnic tables around. The dog park is closed until spring 2023.

We visited the zoo. It was nice.

Although it is free, it is amazing that it is managed so far.

yes, it is free of charge (but donations are appreciated!) It is located at the "top" of the park. Helpful tip for visiting Bear Hollow Zoo: When you enter the park, pull into the upper parking lot instead of looping down the hill for an easier walk. There are signs that direct you to the entrance of the zoo. You can access the entire park on foot but it is a pretty steep hill from the lower loop to the entrance of the Zoo area. Bear Hollow Zoo is currently closed at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions but follow our Facebook pages for updates: Facebook @ACCLeisureServices and @BearHollowZoo

Highly doubt it. There's a large snapping turtle, loads of other turtles but the fish stay hidden.
It costs $1 per person. Babies are free up to one year old.
Its been a few years since my kids were that age but they should be able to. I dropped mine off in their teens.
I think its rather early, could be no later than 5
