I was very depressed when I started counseling there but the counselor I began seeing actually started to give me a little hope...UNTIL...he started cancelling sessions the day of and saying he would call to reschedule, which he never did. And then they turned it around to make it like I just stopped coming and sent me a bill... 😂 I'm not sure who needs to hear this but people don't usually just walk into a mental health clinic because they're having a great day. Many of us have trust issues and have been let down by people all our lives and your agency's counselors could be the last hope we have. If you are burned out...GET OUT! Overwhelmed? Leave the profession and move over for someone that can handle it. If you're just there for a paycheck and don't care anymore then shame on you. From the front desk to the counselors to the administration : you are dealing with people's LIVES. LIVES...LIVES! Let that sink in

I am a vendor who works with this clinic and many others in SC. The staff at Charleston and Dorchester MH clinics are extremely hard working and passionate about helping people. In an understaffed industry, it can be hard to consistently exceed individual's expectations but I witness first hand that hard work that goes into making a difference in the greater Charleston community. This clinic has a great team of people and I would recommend it to anyone in need of help!

Honestly this place is a joke I remember coming here all the time when I was younger for mental help but I stopped seeing them because I felt better well recently I’ve Decided to come back and it’s been like 3 years so I have to go through the intake process which is like 1-2 hours well i called ahead and idk who it was that I spoke with but she told me To come in at 12 so I was here at 11:45, some lady ends up coming to talk with me at 12:30 saying they can’t take any more ppl for Intake cause there booked 🙄 what’s the point of telling someone to come in at a certain time if this is gonna be the bs they have to deal with.

Questions & Answers

I don't have any insurance, so MUSC referred me here. But after reading all the reviews, I'm afraid to even go. Is there anywhere else an uninsured person could go for low or no cost mental healthcare? Thank you for your input!

You should still go. There are ways they can determine if you qualify for lower payments based on your circumstances. Just ask before you obtain service.
