Lots of shade. This is just a gravel parking lot. It is right on the French Broad river. Great place to launch canoes and kayaks. It also has access to many trails.

Youth under 16 do not require a license. You might consider fishing in Lake Powhatan right down the road. Pond fishing is easier than river fishing (imo). There is a fee to get into the lake area.

Sam, the park is only open until dusk. Bear Creek RV Park is close by, though.

No this is just a public river access area. Zen tubing offers tube rentals right down the road. French Broad Outfitters has kayak rentals and shuttle service.
