I just spent a couple hours working here in the Blacksburg library. It is truly astounding how much the job of librarian has expanded from what I imagine it was when I was a kid, pre-internet. While I was here they checked out books of course, but also helped an elderly gentlemen trying to fill out an online job application, helped a woman get set up to receive library notices by email, and on and on. The library and its librarians are such a community asset.
