Do not waste your time with the BBB. My brother filed a complaint against Kia USA as Kia has refused to fix his vehicle which is under a lifetime warranty. The BBB response stated that because Kia USA did not respond to the complaint, they were closing the case. They also stated that the lack of response from Kia would affect their rating with BBB. Obviously, the BBB rating means nothing to corporations. The BBB has not power to intervene in unethical corporate behavior.

The BBB is a non profit supported by local businesses with the claim of fostering an ethical relationship between businesses and consumers. Yet in their reviews and my own experience, it appears they side with unethical behavior by businesses. I recently filed a complaint where the property management company kept my security deposit. These property management company submit lies and photos that were not from my residency to BBB. They closed the case and when I notified the invesigator she did not respond back and probably because the BBB feels taking responses once is enough due diligence. Note the owner of the property management company told me how lucky I was that he didn't raise my rent during Covid-19 when others were not paying. Clearly he seized my deposit with lies to recoup his losses. Consumers should not have to pay for that. The BBB give these insincere responses to the negative public reviews and I must agree they choose not to do their job and are useless. Lucky for the public who had good experiences with businesses and reported to the BBB because everyone else with negative feedback did not have good experiences with the BBB or the business.
