We recently attended Vietgone at the Guthrie and had a great experience. The show was wonderful. The observation deck on the 4/5th floor gave a lovely view of the city, as did the 9th level. They also have a fun little gift shop on the first floor that's worth checking out for little gifts and treasures!

This is definitely a great place to go if you need to think and/or just get out.

Great theater venue in Minneapolis, MN. The theater brings great theater to the Twin Cities including the classics, reimagined classics and new high quality work like “Sally and Tom”

No ticket is needed to visit the Guthrie! Our building was designed for the community, which is why we’re open daily to visitors. Enjoy the views from the Endless Bridge and Amber Box or grab a cup of coffee with friends on Level Five.
They wouldn't have to walk more than a hundred feet.
Oh yes I do plan to see it.
The yellow room is considered public space, as is the endless bridge. Both spaces, are open to the public free of charge during public operating hours. The yellow room can be accessed by taking the escalator to the theater lobby and then riding the elevator to the top.
It's 2 hours 10 minutes with a 15 minute intermission. It was an incredible show.
Always call in advance to see if rush is even available
Yes, typically the first 5 performances (for shows in the Thrust and Proscenium spaces) are previews and tickets for those generally start at $15. The Guthrie counts the first preview as the opening date though, so the published opening date is the first show with publicly available tickets, preview or not.
Sorry should have been more specific. Can I take a profile type photos there at Guthrie
They now have a 'soft opening' of a buffet for $35pp before shows. Called Ovation. It's ok, steak option was good, chicken was dry and not very good. This might be a better dining option timing-wise but quality is not what it was. Seemed over-priced to me. There's room for improvement.
Yes. There are concessions and a cafe on Level 5. You're allowed to bring drinks into the theater but food will have to be eaten in the lobby or stowed away.
As already said, they are closed. But when open, they have been open to the public.
In the Proscenium theater, yes. You can request to take the access elevator to the bottom of Aisle 2. In the Thrust, there is no way to enter from the bottom of Aisle 19 and 20.

Currently there are not plans to reopen the restaurant or start food/drink service during shows due to covid restrictions. It will probably be announced on the website when those do reopen.
Call the box office. Most places have been relatively flexible due to COVID.
We sure do! Buy online or call the Box Office at 612.377.2224. https://www.guthrietheater.org/shows-and-tickets/gifts-and-packages/

Hi El, most casting is done locally and audition notices are posted to Minnesota Playlist. The majority of our out-of-town casting is arranged through McCorkle Casting, Ltd. You can learn more here: https://www.guthrietheater.org/for-artists/

I'd call and ask,
There are spots available in the Riverfront Parking Ramp across the street from the Guthrie. Additionally, there are metered spaces in front of the Guthrie on South 2nd street. You can find more information about street parking here: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/parking/disability/parking_disability_parking-meters
Unfortunatly I have no direct connection to the theater
There is not a play with that description currently @ the Guthrie. The current plays are Christmas Carol (about Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim) and Noises Off (a play about actors putting on a play).
The show starts at 1pm, and is ruffly 2 hours and 30 min in length.
Christmas Carol starts November 13th, running through December. Early shows have tickets starting at $15. Call the box office to ask about any special programs going on. The early/preview shows are usually the cheapest, though no less enjoyable. https://www.guthrietheater.org/shows-and-tickets/2018-2019-season/a-christmas-carol/
7pm is the evening show
Play including intermission is a little over 2 and a half hours.
I went to the show on Saturday and it started at 1:00. I got out of the garage around 4:15.
So far, the show hasn't been cancelled
I would presume so but call the box office just incase.
Call the Guthrie Theater box office directly to get rush tickets. Went last Saturday and they sure had open seats then
Mar 24: yes, at both 1pm and 7:30pm. Familiar, Indecent and A People's History are all playing.
