It’s wonderful camping experience, site 45 and 46 in separate island and it was more privacy and private lake beach

In need of some updating and better care around the camp sites. Was over run with ants.

We only camped one night but had a great time. The check in hosts (Trish and Will, I believe?) we extremely kind and helpful. The waterside sites are gorgeous but I would avoid the sites that back up to Buford Dam Road due to noise and lack of scenery. We were in site 7, which is quite small for a trailer. Ours is 16 feet and I would not try with something larger. Ideal for tents though. The bathrooms were clean but very minimal. No trash cans in the bathrooms, so please pack your garbage out. There are bins outside the bathroom. I did notice the dumpster was overflowing and needed to be picked up. The campground was very quiet at night, but be aware, there are houses across the lake from some of the sites. It could get noisy especially around summer holidays. We live locally and are familiar with Lake Lanier. There is lots of do here for recreation and there are stores and restaurants nearby. We will be back to Sawnee for another staycation in the future! 10:30pm
If you haven't already checked in then yes, you need to wait. Otherwise the gate isn't necessarily locked at 1030. At least the times I've camped there.
Yes they do, two showers in the mens and women's bathrooms, very large and even handicap accessible. Also clean.
Not sure exactly what date, but we have camped there towards late fall before .
No sewer hook up, but water and electric. Dump station available
$26/ night.
It's open, yes.stayed there 2 weeks ago
Yes just don't buy wood with them is bad quality
Yes they are open.
Bolding mill is also open
No, great rv and tent campgrounds.
Is supposed to open June 13th I believe. They also had to find someone to work it.
It's not walking distance but it's less than a mile drive to the Chattahoochee since the campground is right by the dam
Yes, but they must be in a leash.
No. Unless it has changed recently, the park is closed a few (6?) months each year.
Not a question. Campground office staffing is limited during the off-season. Your best chance of speaking with someone is to call between Thursday and Sunday.
Have have reservation over the reservation center by phone no reservation no entering unless visiting family or friends then ranger or the volunteer needs tag of vechile and some kind of id
You reserve online and then go to your park site and I'll put a tag on your site. You can pay online to
Yes. You have to wait.
Whichever Campground Host is on duty (whether in the office or out cleaning sites), they'll have the key to sell firewood to campers... there's a sign saying, "Firewood Sold between 4-6pm" but they'll always respond to a nicely spoken request. Oh and firewood is a cash only purchase.
They don't have an attendant in the gatehouse, only a short time towards evening I've been told.
Yoy can go to reserveamerica.com to make reservations. The sites were very large,so I'm assuming so. I believe they label on their maps the hookups and site size. I don't know what their availability is.
We were told that the park would be closed for winter by the rangers. Better check
Yes, several. Back in or pull through. As for electrical I believe they have quite a number of sites with 30 amp service.
No, you must be part of a party with a campsite reservation to be allowed access to the campground. With that said, I'd recommend Lower Overlook Park for your activity. The park is just across the dam (only a few minutes from the campground), parking is free and there are picnic tables, grills and restrooms. While there's no beach, the park is peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water. Hopefully this answer is helpful.
All rv sites have water.
Yes it does it is a tent site right at the water site is in a cove of the lake
You are locked in.
As far as I know or can find there isn't a restriction directly regarding tiki torches.
Just call if you're going to be significantly late.
The lake is only 1/2 ft above full pool.
But you can take a look online, in case of unexpected cancellations, or call the office
No cabins at the campground, tents or RVs only
There aren't any dock facilities available for overnight docking although we've pulled out boat up to shore and anchored it before at our campsite. You will need to check the camp regulations for that though.
Is it open in December? What electric is available? Can you take a 40' fifth wheel with 3 slides?
Some of the lake front site have little areas that could be used as a beach - we've lucked out and done so before.
It's a normal outlet.
Yes but if you want a RV site for power and water they have tent sites with power (regular 120 plugs) water so that you dont have to worry about Generator and other RV sounds
You have to call the main office because there is no one in the campground office until 12pm Friday
Says 10-7 nut I never saw the gates locked.
Yes all sites have grills.
1. Firewood was $ 5 and you can buy it 4-6 pm only. 2-4. I don't know about music and electric hook up, since my site was non-electric hookup, water front site. 3. Yes, sites are spaced away from neighbors.
Or the in ground cutoff valve to the above ground spigot.
The rates vary depending on the time of the year, but there do not appear to be discounts for weekly bookings. Its just the nightly rate times however many nights you want to stay.
Barely. The actual designated beach area is overgrown and not maintained. So forget the sand part for little ones. Depending which site you get you could have your own personal beach in a sense.
They do lock the gates at night. And reopen in the morning. The hours are on the web site. Or call the campground for info.
