The HOA in this neighborhood is full of nightmare stories you hear all the time on Reddit and other internet sites. Brock Built still controls the HOA and will for many more years. The homeowners have absolutely zero input and any homeowner who tries to complain or do things to help improve the HOA are ignored and retaliated against. HOAs can be a wonderful asset to help keep the home values up in a neighborhood but this is definitely the HOA from hell. If you do buy in this development just be ready to be held to ridiculously impossible standards and inconsistent enforcement of the policies. They will put on a wonderful dog and pony show for you and make you think Brock Built will be there for you after you move in, but the reality is they don’t care about anyone as soon as the closing documents are signed. Try to talk to some residents in the neighborhood before you purchase. Current residents don’t want to publicly bash Brock Built because they are afraid of retaliation and afraid of bringing down home values.

Update Review (11/18/2021): We have been living in the house for about a year and a half. The house overall has been great with a limited amount of issues. The biggest concern is the HOA. The builder pretty much has all of the control of the HOA. There are no current homeowners on the HOA board like you would normally see which is very odd to me. So if you’re someone who has a hard time dealing with HOAs, I would look for other neighborhoods/builders to buy your home. If the HOA stuff doesn’t really bother you much at all, then I would say consider West Highland. It’s just pretty odd to me to not have current home owners represented on the HOA board. Closing on my new house on 3/27. The house looks amazing. The Project Manager, Dwayne Carracker, was awesome and took care of everything we needed. Our Salesperson, Dahlia Aitova, was very awesome to work with as well. She was very knowledgeable and gave us her honest advise on different topics to aid us with our decision making.

Is it better to buy a new construction home?

Buying a new construction home definitely has its advantages, but whether or not it’s “better” than buying a pre-owned home is a matter of personal opinion. And our opinion? New construction is definitely the better choice—although we are a little biased! Nonetheless, if you love a good DIY project, enjoy vintage character, are looking to renovate, or don’t mind budgeting for home repairs, buying a pre-owned home may be the best choice for you. But if you want a move-in ready home with minimal maintenance and modern style, a new construction home is the way to go.

How long does it take to build a new home?

On average, it can take anywhere from six months to over two years. Many factors go into the planning and execution of a new home, and delays can occur at any stage. Weather, supply shortages, labor shortages, and more are just a few of the things that can impact timelines.
