I have a chronic condition and have been a patient here since 2010, sans a four-year period when I lived out of state. When I returned to GA, I returned here as well. Andrea Mealor, NP-C is wonderful! She is very thorough, personable, and caring. I wouldn't want to see anyone else.

My Mother in law waited 4 weeks to see Jeff Williams, he said she was fine in the 5 minutes he was willing to give her of his precious time. She passed a way a week later with Cancer where he did not diagnose it properly in the 5 minute visit.

Dr. Williams and the medical team at Athens Gastroenterology Assoc are top notch. Everyone (Dr. Williams and the nursing staff, the anesthesiologist, the receptionists, and the office staff) was friendly, courteous, professional, and efficient. They ensured that my colonoscopy went smoothly. Very pleased with the care I received.

Previous patient of Dr. Williams for stomach issues and had an endoscopy done in office and no complaints whatsoever. After having a baby my stomach issues have resurfaced and I waited 3 months for this appointment eagerly to find answers to my pain to only be told at the time of my appointment that they are not in network with my new insurance. I offer to pay out of pocket for treatments and requested to still see Dr Williams today to be denied and told No because it would be “insurance fraud” to let me pay cash when it is MY decision to file to insurance or not. I work in healthcare and I have NEVER been denied medical treatment/help because of my insurance especially when I request to pay out of pocket. Keep in mind I was told it was MY fault for not contacting my new insurance to make sure they are in network per Insurance coordinator. Insurance coordinator also stated it was my PCP fault for their lack of verifying my insurance when he didn’t even make my appointment or refer me to their office!!!! Verifying insurance is NOT my job and the office should be verifying insurance the day before the appointment not the DAY OF/TIME OF APPOINTMENT. Another thing I noticed was an elderly lady in front of me complaining about the office not having her appointment on the books for today like she had scheduled (she stated my doctor and appointment time) and after I check in I was denied treatment or to be seen at all because of my insurance and guess who got my scheduled spot.. little elderly lady complaining about driving over an hour and the office not having her appointment scheduled. I took that personal and felt as if they wanted to please the complaining patient with no appointment (or the office never scheduled it like they were suppose to) and turned me away because they thought they could tell me a FALSE statement thinking I was young and dumb and not educated enough to stand up for myself. So 3 months have gone by with no answers and more aggravation. Thanks Athens Gastroenterology for a horrible experience and will be advising other healthcare professionals to go elsewhere for gastroenterology office.
