My mother, Miriam, did here rehab after hip surgery at LifeCare for 2 and a half weeks. Here is my assessment of the facility and care after visiting almost every day and listening to her comments/feedback: 1. Medical Staff: The nurses were very nice and competent and caring as well as the other medical staff. I never met the doctor. There were only two significant problems: a. Her roommate had scavies and they didn't catch it for over a week. That made my mother also have to be treated for scavies with Ivermectin and caused her a lot of stress. This should have been diagnosed quickly and caught possibly even caught on admission. b. On her last night there, her wing was empty with early discharges so they didn't have a nurse to staff that section. They made decision (initially) to leave her in her room in the empty wing and check on her from down the hall. My mom wasn't happy. They moved her to the Alzheimer's unit after she lodged a concern. This worked but there needs to be better coordination of staff and discharges. 2. Admin Staff: Very helpful and knowledgeable. 3. Food: A solid "B" for food. I think more healthy options for meals and less sugar and Southern "comfort" cooking would be good for residents. 4. Facility: Not fancy, dated, but still nicely kept. Two to a room is a stretch when people are in wheelchairs. They need to improve their outdoor spaces: front porch by the front doors needs to be expanded and they need more chairs. Inner courtyard is a gem but not usable because the sidewalk is tilted and the door to get in and out requires a code which is hard for residents. Smaller common areas by nurses stations could also use improvements. 5. Physical Therapy: We had heard they have a great PT and that is why we chose this facility. And they do! They worked with my mom every day to get her hip and strength up and we saw night and day improvement. Overall: I would use this facility again for my mother for short term care. If the facility were updated in the common areas and only had 1 person per room, I think they would be one of the better facilities in Cumberland County. The staff listens and cares, which is difficult to find after COVID.

I worked at this facility before transferring to another Life Care due to my family moving; however, I was given the opportunity to move back to the area and return to the Crossville facility and I jumped on it. I love Life Care Center of Crossville. I love the team, residents, and community. I have worked for several Life Care facilities over the years and I can say without hesitation this is my favorite place and the one facility I call home. I feel blessed to be apart of the Life Care team and it is a pleasure to serve the residents and community.

My father, Richard Traylor, was the executive director of this life care center in the 90's. My family owns nursing homes in south Alabama and my father owned 2 before moving to Crossville TN. I will have to visit Crossville really soon and Fairfield Glade.
