Terrible experience getting new plates from out of state. Waited about 30 minutes for my appointment and was told I didn’t even bring everything I needed! The website was so confusing and terribly designed I couldn’t even tell what I needed though. Additionally, the confirmation email did not clear anything up. I probably should’ve used the chat function beforehand since a lot of reviews mention that being helpful… All in all, don’t try to figure it out from the website-you’ll waste a lot of time!

I filed a motion months ago, in early May. Division A misplaced my motion and when I continued following up on it they FINALLY found their mistake. But, I was told by the division A clerk that I wouldn’t be given a timeframe. This was supposed to have been a 6 week filing. Where is the money order I sent? I’ve requested contact 4 times now with no response. I’ve emailed, I’ve called. I don’t know what else to do. If I had done this with my fines I would have been arrested.

Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder | Oct 21, 2021

Hi there, forms can be found at office supply stores or online under Colorado Legal Forms search (https://www.courts.state.co.us/Forms/Index.cfm). We don’t record wills (they are “lodged” with the court) and executor paperwork is probably through the court or an attorney.

Hi, I think you're looking for the Jefferson County Courts. We don't have anything to do with the courts.

is there an additional fee for a name change to a title, plus adding a spouse

Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder | Oct 22, 2019

Assuming this is related to a real estate transaction, you would record a new deed changing the name and adding a person to the title of a house. Recording Fees are $13 for the first page and $5 for each additional page of that same document. We do not have blank legal forms. You can go online, visit an office supply store or visit your local library for the blank deed, fill it out and have it recorded in our office.

How do I go about changing my name after a divorce back to my maiden name?

Becky Quimby | Oct 22, 2018
Jefferson County | Oct 22, 2019

Is this for your motor vehicle registration? Bring in the divorce decree and current identification. If the vehicle is financed, contact the lien holder and they will complete your request. If you own the vehicle, bring in the title with the above mentioned items and we will help you with the process. The title name change will be $7.20.

My vehicle license renewal indicates I need an emissions test, but doesn't say what proof is needed. Is the information logged into a computer system which can be accessed by the DMV?

Sue Sawyer | Oct 22, 2018
Jefferson County | Oct 22, 2019

If the vehicle is a gasoline vehicle then you will go to an Air Care Colorado Emissions station. You do not need to bring anything to the emissions station other than the vehicle being tested. They will give you a sheet of paper saying if the vehicle passes or not. If this vehicle is done with Air Care Colorado, we can find the emissions record. If this is a diesel vehicle you will need to go to an outside diesel testing location. For diesel vehicles you will need to bring in the print out you are given. Both of these can be mailed in with your payment.
