Everyone is super nice and welcoming the two times I have been to this particular location. The first time the girl was experienced and super friendly, gotten the needle right in and the process was quick. However, my second time being there kind of makes me not wanting to go back. The one lady asked me if it was okay if the person training could poke me and I said sure. I guess that might've been a mistake because her and another lady kept messing with the needle in my arm, pulling it a bit in or out and then rotating it a couple times. Not to mention the wrap they had to tighten my arm was TOO tight, and I could barely feel my fingers as I tried squeezing the ball. Due to this bad experience I cannot see myself going there again. Maybe if it was someone experienced who have done it for a few years but I wasted my time going there and they gotten some blood from me they were probably going to throw out anyways. I donated for 5 years and this particular incident makes me nervous on donating again. I will definitely not want a trainee to poke me ever again.

My daughter and I have gone twice. Been stuck with a needle a combined five times and actually given blood twice. That’s a 40% success rate. We’ll be going somewhere else next time.

I really enjoy donating blood here. I have donated platelets a handful of times and have always had a good experience. The staff is always great and friendly.

Questions & Answers

I donated blood recently. How do I get the results for cholesterol test?

Bernice Schmehl - thanks for asking! As Rich (blood donor) already mentioned, the easiest way to receive not only your cholesterol, but *all of your test results, is through our online donor portal - https://donor.giveapint.org Once you create your portal and link it to your donor ID #, you will be able to view your donation history, including dates and test results. You can also complete a survey and rate our staff after each of your donations, and schedule your appointments online.

No, this is for donation not payment. Blood products that are paid for are not allowed to be used in patients, it can only be used for testing or pharmaceuticals. Miller Keystone does have a rewards program where you can redeem points for various items or gift cards once you donate several times.

MKBC is licensed & accredited by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA). FDA regulations stipulate that blood/platelets/plasma donated by individuals who have been paid to donate may not be used for transfusion to humans in the US. Therefore all donations to MKBC come from a strictly volunteer donor base with no financial compensation provided. To confirm, donating plasma is an automated procedure, so the time from registration to donation to refreshments will be approx. 60-90 minutes. Our Reading location is open Monday through Saturday. We are open Mon & Wed 7:30am-2pm; Tues & Thurs 12pm-7pm, Fri 6:30am-4pm; and Sat 6:30am-1pm. We are currently operating under an appointment only policy at this time. To schedule an appointment, call 800-223-6667 or visit https://www.giveapint.org/give-blood/
