Saddened to see that Eagle Bay Lodge applies liquid chemicals to there swim beaches. I thought this type of activity was from a bygone era but I witnessed it with my own eyes from the dock. I thought it was widely known that more vegetation will keep the water clean of algae, not less so not sure why they are waisting their money on dangerous chemicals, one of which is banned in the European Union for harm-fullness to humans. I inquired at the front desk about this and they said usually they spray chemicals early in the morning when no one sees. They tried to tell me that it was safe to swim but the DNR states that you should wait 24 hours. Didn’t feel comfortable letting my kids swim so we didn’t use the beach for 1-1/2 days. I would like to see this place manage their shorelines better with more buffer zones, less beach, more aquatic vegetation, not mowing right down to the waterline, etc. Shoreline management best practices is widely available from UMN extension and MN dnr and non of their recommendations include spraying toxic chemicals into the water. After my inquiry at the lodge warning signs were promptly posted. Some of the chemicals were Copper Sulfate and Diquat Dibromide. The guy spraying the chemicals was wearing a full body bio hazard suit.

We enjoyed this slice of home-away-from-home for a week gap in kids' programs. Everything is clean and comfortable, the staff and other guests were all fantastic and friendly. The pool, beach, playground, and lodge were all well tended and accessible, and frequently used. It's not too close or far from town or the other attractions, like the Mississippi Headwaters. Do remember to bring your towels!

Awesome resort with plenty of amenities and access to the lake and golf course. People were fantastic.

Spent the evening visiting family that was staying in one of the cabins. The cabins and lake were beautiful and peaceful. Would definitely visit again.
