Yes you may place cut flowers on the grave. There is s schedule the cemetery follows for removal of flowers, etc.

There is a website for the cemetery which has a registry of all the graves and where to find them.

There are maps available for download on the VA National Cemetry website. You can download and print a copy.

Dawn til dusk. The website says 9-4 but the gates are always open (and the bathrooms too!) until dark. There hasn't been a time during daylight hours that I've tried to go that I wasn't able to get in.

There's a computer in the admin bldg. Enter name and it will print out a map to the person's grave.

I use Calverton National Floral which is just down the road. Always very pleased with their services.

You can also use any if the Kiosks. I used the one on the outside of the administration building. It is similar to using an ATM machine. You need to know name and date of birth. Then you can print out a map and it will show you where to go. The section is numbered and the gravesite number is on the back of each tombstone.

Only real flowers except for Easter or Memorial Day Then you can leave artificial plants/flowers They're allowed 5 days before and after those holidays

The VA tried the flat headstones but decided to go back to uprite ones. This is why , on Memorial Day we place flags by every headstone to honor those who served out country0

The schedule is posted on boards as you enter the cemetery you will see the pickup schedule for the flowers.

Would take long Island railroad to mastic ,shirley station and would need to take cab or bus north to cemetery about 10-15 ride. Cemetery is very big need section and plot number

I believe they have Saturday burials at times, you will have to ask the funeral home she is at or call the cemetery early tomm morning.

Differant size caskets fpr differant size people. Big people need more space even in death. Lol

The reason he is buried in Calverton National Cemetery is because this is the only National Cemetery in the Northeast that has room. All the others are full to capacity for full burials they can only accommodate cremations.

Yes, pretty sure. My Dad was the Vet,not my Mom and they are buried together. I read unmarried child.

Grave locator. Enter the name of the person and it tells you where the grave is. But it helps if you know the cemetery.

There are limited lines on the headstone but i dont remember the number of characters you can utilize but your information goes on one side and your spouse goes on the otber on the same headstone.

I really don't know, how long they allow the graves to be decorated. I would hope if you put flowers/arrangments for the holiday it wouldnt be cleaned up till after the holiday is over. However you can always call the administrator office to get a clearer answer.

The Calverton National Cemetary is open Saturday's with the exception of several national holidays.

If u or ur spouse. Was in the military or if u were. Not married. Andur mom or dad is buried. In there you can be buried with them.

After you have successfully applied, if there is room in that area I'd hope they would accomodate your request. I recommend you call them.
