One of the best meals I have ever had. Have the gnocchi with pesto and Nutella pizza for dessert and thank me later.

Truly the best Italian we’ve ever had….ever. We tried to call for reservations and they were too busy, but since it was our last night in NYC….we took a chance and stopped by. We were greeted with open arms. While they didn’t have a table, the owner offered us a comfortable seat at the bar. I wasn’t super excited about eating with my son and husband at the bar, but decided to just try it out. The bar tender Armando (I believe is his name), was the nicest guy. We are pretty picky eaters and only wanted spaghetti pomodoro and he talked me into the meatballs. The pasta was cooked perfectly! Al dente!!! The sauce was not too acidic, not too sweet, had a little kick to it that made it just incredible. Then I took a bite of the most amazing meatball I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what all is in them, but my gosh I’ve never had anything like it before. It’s the kind of thing that you truly savor each bite. Thank you so much for making our last night in NYC so special. It was truly the most amazing experience we had in New York and will definitely be back!

If it wasn’t for the terrible table service and rudeness of the waiter it would’ve been at least 3 stars…but my gnocchi (probably the only vegan option) was not made of potatoes as usual. Plain taste of flour and as you can see not well served too. However what really surprised me was the attitude of the waiter a short slightly out of shape Latino guy who was unhappy maybe to be working on a Sunday shift and zero patience to explain anything for us. He got really worked up because we gave no tip but never asked if the food was good. I hope never to return.

I am in NY for a week on business. I inquired with the Concierge at my Hotel what Italian restaurants were in the area. They highly recommended Tavola. They were right, the food was excellent! I went to dinner at 3:45pm and had Eggplant Parm and a glass of Chianti. Once finished, I asked about dessert, cheesecake perhaps? I was told by the server “no deserts available until dinner time” she would not serve me dessert. I have a feeling because I was dining alone she wanted me to leave so she could take another party.
