Hello. Our current Tompkins Square library branch did not open on this site until 1904. But, prior to that, there was the Fifth Street branch of the Aguilar Free Society Library, which operated since 1887. More information about the Aguilar Free Circulating Library comes from this Village Preservation article: https://www.villagepreservation.org/2020/10/01/beyond-the-village-and-back-the-aguilar-free-circulating-library/ For further assistance, please check our Milstein Division of United States History, Local History and Genealogy: https://www.nypl.org/locations/schwarzman/milstein You can also contact our Ask NYPL team: https://www.nypl.org/get-help/contact-us
At the moment the branch is only open for Grab and Go Services. Grab-and-go is a safe and socially distant checkout and return service that allows patrons to pick up requested books, cds and dvds and return items at these open locations while maintaining a safe distance from each other and staff. To learn more please visit - https://www.nypl.org/about/grab-and-go
The library pin is your own personal pin 🔢.
Yes you can. NYPL has a whole catalog of online materials you can download for a period of time. You can also order books to borrow from any library in the NYPL system and have it sent to the library of your choosing to borrow from
Not in the online library catalog.
