BREAK-IN AND THEFT @ 1 WEST STREET!!! I felt strongly that this required public attention as a last-ditch effort to expose this building and help someone else avoid what happened to us. My boyfriend stayed in one of the executive furnished apartments at 1 West Street in FiDi managed by the Moinian Group. When he returned from a work trip in April 2022 we found out that someone from Blueground (the company managing the furnished rental) had entered his apartment using one of their spare keys (WITHOUT his knowledge or approval) and stole a sweater worth $1250. The police were called and a report was filed. They took it very seriously (a theft over $1000 is a felony) and an investigator was assigned to the case but neither Blueground nor 1 West Street would accept fault for the theft, even though there was proof/evidence that an employee from Blueground had entered his apartment the day the theft occurred. Blueground acknowledged that one of their staff entered the property (they couldn’t deny it, there are cameras all over the building) but they’re denying that the theft occurred. Luckily (you’d think) property insurance is built into their rentals, but it has now been over 4 months since he vacated the property and filed an insurance claim through them but to this day they have not provided a credit. The level of disappointment and shock with this company and 1 West Street is beyond belief…. an employee of theirs broke into our apartment and committed a felony theft yet they’re refusing to accept fault and trying to avoid covering the loss through their insurance. Take from this what you will, but if you decide to rent from this company or stay in this building, use extreme caution. It’s a horrible feeling not to feel safe in your own home or having to hide expensive items when you leave your place, as we had to do after this incident until he moved out shortly after.

Hannah Doyal is a great help! She made the move in process seamless and is very attentive through every step! She make us truly feel like 1 west street is a HOME and not simply a residence!

This building has been renewing everyone's lease at about a 60% increase from what they were paying before (for example $3,000/month to a new lease of $5,300/month). Then they allow new people to move in for $500/month less than what they would allow existing tenants to pay. They say it's a "free market" but there is no way families are expected to be able to pay this type of increase. I do not recommend you move in here unless you are okay with having to move again in a year or two. Maybe they have a secret deal with brokers to get so many people to turnover their apartments? I will be looking for a management company that has reasonable rent increases (no more than 10% please!) so I can not worry about my kids needing to change schools once I am established. Moinian, I'm not sure how you sleep at night doing this to people and I hope someone is able to stop them as it is a terrible way to treat your tenants. Also the roof is closed for a year or two, the building is covered in scaffolding, and my apartment has cockroaches.

I wish I could give zero stars. If you're looking for a sign, this is it.... We were forced to pay 6 months upfront for absolutely no reason if we wanted to move in. Then a YEAR after a painful lease of arguing over random charges appearing on our account, they just began asking for money AGAIN with no justification and threatening to send us to collections when it was disputed. If you get happen to get ahold of them on the phone, they lie straight to your face about lease protocols and try to put the blame on you. Maintenance is also disgusting and enters your apartment without your consent (I didn't put in any request and wasn't informed of them entering and came home to my bed unmade, dirt in my sheets, and pillows pulled off of my bed) and when I brought it up it was dismissed as if it wasn't a big deal. There are also mice/roaches no matter how clean your apartment is. DON'T. LIVE. HERE.
