You're best option would be to call Nintendo's customer service center." @Sean Ballantine. I'd like to suggest that you get in touch with J&L Video Games on 7th Avenue. I'm guessing that they can take an authentic shell off of a broken DS system and transfer it to yours. More likely, they have in stock or can order a third-party replacement shell an install it. A 30 second glance over of Google gives me the impression that the shell can easily be replaced if you have the tools and parts. The people at J&L should have the technical savvy to make the changeover fast and easy. Take it there.

Since the PS2 had HD support we typically recommend people to get a PS2 slim and a PS3 slim ( it will cost you about the same but they do break down) PS3 20/60gb units have the lowest compatibility across all 3 Systems ( it runs part emulation making some ps1 games not work, a lot of PS2 games do not work) When Sony released the SLIM and SUPER SLIM models they increased the internal ram. While all PS3 games still play on the fat model some of the late generations like GTA have shuttering and loading issues as they were written to use more ram.

They have occasionally had new games early, however since they have had trouble with Nintendo over that practice, they may be a little more wary to do so nowadays. That said, Ive still gotten games early occasionally through them, for instance, I bought Persona 4 Dancing All Night a full week early from them. If you're looking for early Nintendo games and you live in NYC, consider trying some of the outer-borough independent game shops. I got Pokemon White 2 from a place in the Bronx 3 days early.
