The *correct* answer to Sean's question should have been: "I'm sorry, we're not able to make that kind of repair. You're best option would be to call Nintendo's customer service center." @Sean Ballantine. I'd like to suggest that you get in touch with J&L Video Games on 7th Avenue. I'm guessing that they can take an authentic shell off of a broken DS system and transfer it to yours. More likely, they have in stock or can order a third-party replacement shell an install it. A 30 second glance over of Google gives me the impression that the shell can easily be replaced if you have the tools and parts. The people at J&L should have the technical savvy to make the changeover fast and easy. Take it there.
