My wife and I visited the Florida Rep for the first time on Sunday, May 29th, 2022. We saw “Maytag Virgin” in the smaller, more intimate “black box” theatre. The reason for my three star review has nothing to do with the venue, or even really the actors. My displeasure comes from the misrepresentation that “Maytag Virgin” was labeled as an “all ages appropriate” show, and clearly it is not, due to some very salty language. I counted no less than 8 uses of the “F” word, a few uses of “s**t” and a handful of “d**n”. I am very sensitive to profanity and try to avoid movies and live shows where I know I will be subjected to it. I thought Maytag Virgin was a safe bet. I was wrong. In my opinion, the use of the profanity certainly didn’t add anything to the script or plot of the play. They could have easily used alternative “slang” words and still get their point across. The profanity just wasn’t necessary, and was very jarring coming out of the mouths of two seemingly otherwise enjoyable people. Florida Rep, you have an absolutely beautiful facility, very talented actors, actresses, production crew and staff, but PLEASE do a better job at clearly letting folks know if future productions have profanity or other things in them that may be offensive. Maybe a rating system or disclaimer. Unfortunately, I left feeling “dirty” from this most recent encounter.

Fantastic theater! Great sound system, comfortable seating and small enough to see stage in any row! Loved SpongeBob the Musical and looking forward to coming back!!

We just saw the Show Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. What a fabulous show. I will compare it with Million Dollar Quartet. It was the preview show so can’t imagine it getting better each performance. The entire cast was so professional and couldn't have been better. I have been to this theater several times and i must say this was the best. Thanks also to all the staff of the theater. Great job.

Into the Breeches was excellent. The way the characters developed was amazing. The actors were superb. Plus it was good to be there for our first live play for several years. FL Rep plays never disappoint.

Contrary to other cities...The Fort Myers area is still operating. Restaurants are still open. People still have to work because bills HAVE TO be paid] at home. You want the theatre to close up but are you going to paid the bills for the actors and workers...nope!
Tenderly, the Rosemary Clooney musical, and August Wilson's Fences, I think
Yes across the street from the entrance by the boxoffice
Try calling the Theater or maybe posting them for sale in a local group.
Snacks and drinks are available in the lobby. Downtown is full of wonderful restaurants and bars. Florida Rep’s parking lot opens free to patrons two hours before the performance, so you’re also welcome to enjoy the downtown River District before your performance.
Free parking available in lot across the street from the theater starting one hour before show time - must show your theater ticket.
