Building was great to live in when it was built. To see what it has become is a shame. If you have small children, look some place else to live. Never had any issues with management but what they allow some tenants to get away with in the building makes no sense. Smoking in the building is an issue but that’s (sad to say) common in 2022 in NYC. People who live and who don’t live in the building congregate in the staircases. Some of these same people urinate and leave debris everywhere. The amenities are a joke. The community is horrible. Their are multiple homeless shelters in the area and people with substance abuse and mental health make encampments on every corner. I say if you can afford 2k+ a month to spend in rent look some place else.

Love this building and it’s everything

Got to the second interview in 2018 when I met with this white dude at the office in Harlem he looked at the tattoos on my hand and said we will contact you in two hours. As he did he said it was no more units in my income , but how did it I make it so far to the final interview ? He said if you can make 47,000 in two weeks we will have a medium income apt for you ! Straight discrimination never got me money back for the background check they judge people on how they look it’s not about credit or income
Jay Mendoza
Do not trust him housing discrimination and I plan on putting on a complaint on the company

I spoke to someone today and she says the building will be finished at the end of the Summer and several leases have been signed. Also they are up to April's application interview.
My interview was yesterday they told me june. And the constrution workers told me june 15th people supose to be moving in but they not finished yet
I spoke to them this morning and the building won’t be done until December and also I was told the company doing the background checks is supposed to email or send u a letter
For those who applied for an Apartment in any Housing Lottery if you did not get that apartment by HPD Complaince that your money order can be returned if requested. The only way they keep your money order "only" if a back ground check was done in reference to signing a lease. The purpose of the money order is to pay for the back ground check by third party and not Any administration fees . You can contact HPD and check your status for that development. Good luck and get your money back. I hope i made this as clear as possible.
My log # was 56 . I received calls and emails from Alvista towers. I was interviewed April 2018
I was told that I qualified but haven't heard anything from the credit and background checks. They said that if chosen for residency, I would receive notice in July or August. Apparently, interviews have been extended to June for a few reasons, namely: A lot of applicants aren't qualifying and/or passing the credit and background checks, and the building's completion is behind schedule.
They made no mention of veteran, disabled, or in state resident preference.
shawna, One month and one month deposit is what you pay. Good luck! Also not all apartments are the same in sizes. Bedroom are different sizes and some has more closet spaces than others. Congratulations again. It’s a beautiful building!
what did your email say?>
I interviewed on April 16 and the building's interior was incomplete at the time. Likewise, no pictures were shown. There was still some construction fencing around the property when I was there so I walked the perimeter and explored the neighborhood. The Long Island Railroad/bus/subway hub is steps away from the building so transportation isn't a problem (it's 58 minutes to Manhattan/corner of Wall & S. William Sts., via J and Z trains). I was told that if chosen for residency, I would be notified in mid-July or August.
The building is finished. The parking garage is not done. I was told 9 people already moved in.
Remain hopeful or not to remain hopeful is the question now,my applicant number was 12000 and something.
I interviewed last Friday and the actual interview took no more than 20 mins. I was asked to provide 6 recent pay stubs, 6 recent bank statements, copy of state ID, copy of birth certificate, copy of most recent 401K statement, notarized letter from my parent stating that I live with them & contribute to bills, enrollment letter from my school, 2017 W2 & tax returns (he also asked for 2016 W2 & tax forms even though it wasn't on the list & I thankfully had that with me). He did not ask for the copy of my SS card. He then told me which apt. I qualify for and instructed me to go to the post office 1 block away and purchase a $50 money order for credit & background check (amount based on your income) & he gave me two forms to take home and complete. One is a student verification form that I had to complete and have notarized and the other I had to have my job complete. Both forms had to emailed or faxed back. I was told that I'd be contacted in 2 weeks if I pass both checks.
What’s the name of the site to check log number status. Can you please send the link. My # is in the 4K and have not heard anything yet.
@LK Brown they told me the same thing but for a 2br
I spoke to the lady this morning. She said the building is still not completed & that it will open appx. December 2018. After the interview is completed, the next step is for a third party to complete the background check. After the background check, they will contact you either by mail or e-mail.
It is pet friendly. There are pet designated washers in the laundromat.
I tried emailing and still nothing.
Check your email. I was sent back my background check money and got a email stating that they didn't have an apartment available.BUT I received an email stating to send my stuff again for further processing so just double check everything!
i received one and got in contact with someone, they said that if and when they get to your log number they'll ask for the $25 back, they are up to the # 5,000's and are only doing preference applications at the moment, when they are done with preference they'll get to the others
Giving a money order is part of the Application process when applying for housing. Now it depends on the lottery number and the zone where you live, for nearby resident's its 50% about 117 apartments available for those people. 5 people as i understand signed leases. There is this question on peoples money orders being kept but there is a NYC HPD law that all Money Orders must be returned to its applicants if not given an apartment. You can call HPD Compliance to see your status. Hope this can help answer your question.
Not sure,I will check and get back with a answer.
It was more like showing your proof of income . they'll explain to you the things you need and things you don't need . they'll definitely let you know if you don't meet the qualifications
I had to provide a notarized form stating that I am not a student. Likewise, I had to provide a notarized enrollment letter from my daughter's high school.
I was told that over 20,300 applied for the apartments and many haven't been able to qualify and/or pass background/credit checks.
I was told by my interviewer that the background check looks for felonies and things on your credit history totaling more than 3000 dollars.Just a FYI for everyone!
Taking home only 1700. Its alot of us who love to take home that every two weeks. Lol
What estimate did they gave u for the studios ?
I am in the same boat. They gave me 2 estimates for a studio and 3 estimates for a 1 bdrm. I think 1500 is too much for a studio!! I need to see what the studio looks like before I make a final decision.
People are getting conflicting information on this. Some were told June or July. Some said August. More recently applicants are told December this year.
Yes on the advertisement it does say it has parking
It is on the same block as the E,J and Z train and air train to JFK and the lirr
I heard that it goes by credit history and not score
Stephanie - No way! Why?! That's NOT FAIR! You do work full time. Yes, please appeal. That agent must be a jerk! i read some where how to appeal. I have to get back to you.
By lit do you mean loud and noisy and crazy??
If you send a self-addressed envelope they will only send you a reply with a paper that has your lottery number on it. It is more efficient to apply online through Housing Connect. Through Housing Connect, you can have instant updates about your status and if you are selected.
Exactly that, your docs are under review and they’ll follow up when they get to it. Now you wait and go through the process with the city. The building isn’t even finished with all the interiors yet so you have some time.
What does do you expect section mean?
Like how much is monthly to pay?
My aunt lives there and she says its pretty good. The Avista towers have a fitness room and a laundry room. I would give it 4 and 1/2 stars
Decent size all the equipment you will need
Hi, Thanks for reaching out! The gross price is $2,611 and that's what the monthly price is. The free months are not reflected in the price. Let me know if you have any other questions!
They have applications for market rate apartments...
Apartment selection is now closed if you have alot of money then you can buy an apartment.
Yeah give them the paperwork no money they still have ur money it's just a follow up to see if ur income and everything else is still the same from when u first applied... I been in my apartment for 3 months now
I went in April with all my papers and my money order... I got an email saying my number was to high ... I just got another email and it asked for the same paperwork and the money order again this time I had to bring it to harlem... please help does this sound familiar to anyone?
People are getting information and they haven't been called first. Sooo as I said does anyone have the number
Mine was in March and haven’t heard nothing anything yet
They are re-veiwing Aprils Applications . A few people signed leases.
Bummer
Yes
Interviewed in March. No updates for me. I saw your other post about everything ending on June 7th? What did you mean by that?
I get same email last week. To be honest I don't understand what that meaning "projection" for this case. I have clear understand that lottery meaning I get something. I think there are some fishing going on. let see what is last minute.
They're for everyone: single, married, divorced, widowed.
Not during the interview but they did ask for a Money Order to do one afterwards
Hello, i also did interview in February and a few days ago they emailed me to resend a documents, how did u find out ur credit was ran?
The last one I did they contacted us by mail
I received an email on Friday, 05/4/ also stating rejected because, "Withdrew application". I went to the office to find out what's going on because I did not withdrew my application, and they told me to disregard that notice, that it was a mistake, there was a glitch in the system and, that notice was sent to everyone.
Me too. I took my sister's lease since I stay with her, but they didn't ask for it. Which was good for my sister. We were concern since she too live's in a low-income building
Sami, it depends on your income. I will be a single tenent as well and it was $50.
I provided copies of my tax returns and W2s for 2016 & 17. If you received unemployment compensation in the last two years, bring proof of that as well. And if you were terminated or laid off from a job, they want a letter of termination from that employer.
My income is in the mid-40's and the prices I was given include $827 for a studio, $929 for a one bedroom, and $1,121 for a two bedroom. If you're around 50K, it's plausible that a studio could be $1,321, give or take. There aren't set rates.
You wait for them to contact you. They won't contact you until your background check and credit check have been done. It is just a waiting game from now on. You can keep an eye on your credit report to see if any credit check pops up.
95-26 Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11435 Suite D My interview is this Thursday, 4/19, Good Luck to all of us!!
Yes they need Employment verification, student verification and even unemployment affidavit if one adult household member claims that she doesn't work.
most likely you will be denied at the interview, happened to me about two years ago for an interview i was called for, i work alot of ot and didnt account for it, they did some equation and said i was projected to make too much and turned me away
That area is not changing for better live there 30 years. Now in suburbs. Dont missed that area. Still visit. Nothing changed.
Did they tell you how much your rent would be?
What was your annual income?
Hi! They dint asked for it, I was expecting to be required but he never asked for it.
95-26 Sutphin Blvd, Suite D Jamaica, NY 11435
I interview in the beginning of this month (may) pretty simple just bring the documents, the main reason for the interview is to see if you qualify income wise, now im just waiting and reading this Q&A to see whats going to happen
how much your income they find out?/
There are still dates available for June. Go for it! Rather than saying "first come first serve" it's more like "first approved, first served". They're not giving the apartments out to the first 379 people who show up. They're giving it to those who qualify (income) and can clear the background and credit checks. A lot of people who are selected for interviews sometimes 1) don't show up or 2) don't qualify for the housing. Not showing up can be due to laziness, change of mind, or just missed the notifications sent out. Not qualifying could be because they put false information on their application, their household size has changed since the application was completed, their background/credit check came back looking a little funky, the household is made up of full-time students, etc. So don't count yourself out just because you have a later interview date. The possibilities are endless.
Yes, it’s fine. They accept it.
They're pet friendly. You will need to show paperwork of their vaccinations. And there's an annual fee for having pet(s).
At them prices I'll take a two bedroom lol.ho still on tolling poll.
I had a similar situation. They told me that the number of people in the household can't be changed from what you entered in the application except for certain situations such as the birth of a new child or death.
You can't make changes to your original application
yes, they will if you included your parents in your application as future household members. All household members (18+) who are listed in the application must be present at the interview
They're not. I literally went past it today and they were guys still working on the outerior of the building.
I did it myself and got it notarized
Bring your child to the interview. That can qualify you for a two bedroom apartment. You need everyone's info who's going to live in the unit. Look at the interview document check list.
I would literally reschedule for a later date since they choose you based on what you provide at the interview.
Once you submit the application you cannot add a household member unless it is via death, marriage, divorce, birth or adoption. You can always appeal if they send you a letter.
If the household consists of all full-time students and you don't meet any of the 5 exception rules then you will be rejected.
nobody will get called back until the building is finished and has passed inspection for people to move in. Things should be ready to go in June
No, i was told the apartments will be ready for viewing in April. But only if your chosen for a unit!
Well, if you want to know you can type in the property name in google and it will give the chart with the median income and unit prices.
The email should have the link n the documents attached to it
Mine as 27,500 and my interview was in February
I was interviewed 2.15.18 for a 2bd my rent will be either $917 or $1,121. Pray we all get it. Good luck everyone
