I couldn't believe the treatment we received upon check in. We checked in close to 8pm. We were not acknowledged as a platinum members and we weren't offered the choice of either the points or amenities. I wasn't even told the points were just credited to the account. The woman handed the keys and told me where the room was and when breakfast was served. She looked like she wanted to get back to talking with her friends. There was a dirty counter where coffee was stationed. The floors werenot cleaned by coffee counter either. There was a big coffee stain from where someone spilled it on the floor and it was never wiped up. There was no 'clean smell' I'm used to from all of the other Holiday Inn's I've stayed at. No matter where we put the inner shower liner, water leaked all over the floor. The shower tray that holds the shampoo, conditioner and body wash came loose in my hand. There was a bill shoved under my door when I woke up. Worst holiday inn express and suites I've ever stayed at.

Hotel itself was nice, clean, beds were comfortable. However, we arrived at 4:30 and our room wasn’t ready yet, despite check in being at 4:00. We were told to wait about 10 min for our room to be finished and ended up waiting about 40 min. When I went to ask the front desk person for an update she said, “I told you to wait 10 minutes and then go up there.” I was under the impression that she would come let us know when our room was actually ready. This entire time she knew we were waiting in the lobby/breakfast area. Overall, the staff we encountered were very rude. We travel through Lamar several times a year and usually stay in La Junta but thought we would try this hotel in Lamar this time. We will not be doing that again.

Didn't appreciate the dead roach in cup holder on bike in fitness center; wipe container was empty so was not able to wipe down equipment. Big black spider running towards me on the bed freaked me out. One key card didn't work but attempts to locate the front desk person to help were futile (after all rooms were filled, he seemed to have disappeared). Towel rack under sink was broken. Hot water pipes were VERY noisy (almost as noisy as the TV in a room across the hall). We weren't able to be accommodated on top floor for a quieter room - the person/s above us were noisy from midnight-4 a.m. Then I was kept awake by early-riser doors slamming. Bed was comfortable; just wish it had been quiet enough to sleep. Chocolate chip cookie and breakfast were good. Like that staff get to have breakfast too.

Positive: Staff was very friendly, breakfast buffet was filling and there were a lot of options. Negative: Jacuzzi was a little over-chlorinated and made our skin itchy, other than this the hotel was clean and well-staffed and we enjoyed our stay.
