Beautiful hike, plenty of vegetation/ wildflowers to admire.

Besides the minimal parking, this trail is qlot of fun! Sweet views, fun valleys, and creek crossings! Very beautiful here going into fall.

Great trail. Cuts 3 miles off (rt) by not having to start at the base of Mt Herman. Downside is that residents are complaining and the PLPD will start issuing citations for parking. Received a warning 2 days ago for “Illegal Parking” with a note stating “No Forest Access.” I spoke to one of the officers (very nice guy) and was told that about the complaints and that no parking signs were being made. If you enjoy access to YOUR national forest, I highly recommend attending Palmer Lake City Council meetings to voice your concerns.

This was a fantastic trailhead. We hiked to Kroenke Lake and that was a great day hike. Took us about 4 hours to get there with frequent stops for food and picture taking. Had a nice picnic on the lake and got back in under two hours. I highly recommend boots and bug repellent.

Most of the land around the trailhead is private land. Check the Pike Peak Ranger district website to see if the trail crosses into public land that permits scrambling. Only gas cooking is permitted anywhere up there. No fires or charcoal.
