I am an agency nurse and I called to inquire about a nursing shift that was posted. The woman who answered the phone named Leona cut me off in the middle of my question to ask something which I had already explained . She proceeded to interrupt me again by talking over me when I started to try and answer her question which I had already explained. She hung up on me and ignored my call when I called back twice. She answered finally attempting to disguise her voice and when I tried to make a complaint she stated “ this is Leona and we don’t want you here and hung up again. The prior rep was professional and polite. Nurses do not pick up here!!

Speaking for a former employee who was fired for trivial 'stacked write ups' prior to using their PTO from the year.. 'Stacking write ups' is when a corporate policy mandates (for example 3 write ups) before being able to fire at will. So you get written up for things like being 1 minute late or using the wrong printer until you have 3 write ups. Then they will defer firing. This gives them the ability to comply with corporate policy and fire at will with no possible repercussions from any state or government agency. Its middle management 101 for low level management jobs such as this. Regardless, after over a year of working the most demanding opening shifts (leaving the house at 4am) and constantly cleaning up behind terrible hires, I can't say enough about this place. STAY AWAY FROM HERE. Your family members if employees will be exploited and broken down like mining iron ore from the dirt. Your family members if residents will be ignored, understaffed, left sitting soiled for hours on end, not have clean laundry, and will generally be uncared for. The number of calls I got about employees sleeping in the show rooms instead of taking care of residents..... those are the people still employed here. Anyone serious about their career or trying to do better than ignoring residents for 8 hour shifts, has left this company well beforehand. This place runs on a single person. That person fills these beds with fake and puffery style marketing type activity and staging perfect visits. Dont be fooled. This place was a COVID unit for a few weeks. Never took it seriously. People died I presume. I heard they never gave out any PPP until it was already turned into a COVID unit. Thats not how that works... Regardless, they gave out some janky little "OMG OUR HEROES" lunchbox and a $0.10 raise for hazard pay. They quit calling it a COVID unit one day at random, likely from lack of staffing capacity. Just a joke, as an institution, comprehensively. If this isn't enough to take your loved ones elsewhere, I recommend looking up the relaxed certifications the parent company enjoys. They have systemic issues that have even made it onto HBO's Last Week Tonight as a main story mentioning their parent company explicitly. There are also a large number of documented deaths. Including residents left outside to freeze to death on a Christmas holiday and memory care patients let outside that were eaten by alligators at night! Hopefully capitalism acts accordingly and pummels this stain of a company into oblivion!

I am a former employee of Brookdale Bath, following a recent termination. I worked at Brookdale for over a year, and I loved my job and residents. That said, management there has changed dramatically since I started, which I believe is what contributed to the events that led to my termination. The job has become less about the actual caregiving and more about politics (you have to be friendly with everyone, or someone will say something and get you in trouble). It seems as though the managers have gotten bored and want to start nitpicking, instead of looking at the employees who don't do their job (sleeping on their shift, not changing their residents, not doing laundry, not taking care of resident housekeeping). It was a great place to work at when I started and even up until recently, but I feel as though it is changing quickly and in the wrong direction
