While Silver Lyan exceeds every single D.C. bar in quality of creativity and ingredient. It falls short in creating an environment of friendliness. The bartenders are knowledgable and capable, but are handicapped in their pursuit of creating a welcoming community that is conducive to regular customers. At the end if the day it seems that the prestige of the Lyon brand is more important then the facilitation of individual customer experiences. It is impossible to not respect the VFX smiley faces that grace the front page of the menu, but it can't make up for the lack of culture and welcoming community that it not present in “the best U.S. Hotel bar.” It certainly exceeds expectations, but has a ways to go if it wants to earn it's title as one of the best bars in the world.

I was really hoping the drinks would be good. You know, not too sweet, balanced, and have interesting mixes of flavors you never thought of. My friend had been to the one in London and spoke so highly... Unfortunate i really didn't like any of the 4 drinks i tried. I actually sent one back. The waiter was also quite rude to my friend. I'm not sure why it was very confusing. All in all, glad i tried it but there are DEF better cocktail bars on DC.
