Went to renew my passport and was checked in at front desk. Interview was nice and flowing. They did advise me that they might be delays and I could receive my new passport in 3 months, so hoping for the best and will likely give an update around that time frame. Update: Not sure why something as simple as a passport takes ages, delays are fine but when they are extended and the reasons are not valid it just doesn't make sense. This is really bad.

Went to renew my passport, which you can only do at the Washington office, supposedly.. The process is very tedious and needs to be revamped. I submitted all my paperwork and paid the fee. Have tried to follow up with the embassy but everytime I get the same response; the forms were sent to Zambia for processing. How long should that take? It's been about 6 months now and have not received a single update to this day. I missed my travel date and had to postpone my ticket because of the Embassy lack of expedition. Even in the USA they still operate in a lackadaisical manner and no sense of urgency. If you need to renew your passport, be prepared to wait for ages.
