The building looks like death reincarnate, but the people are supper nice there plus they seem to do the best work on campus.

Questions & Answers

How would I be able to show my grandson the observatory?

Brian Stenerson | Oct 21, 2019
Joseph Malins | Oct 21, 2019

The observatory is open every Friday evening that is clear from 7-9 pm during standard time or 8-10 pm during Daylight savings time. There will be a graduate student a professor of astronomy and a telescope operator there to answer all your questions when you come. Also, we only are open during the school year, so not in the summer and not over the winter break. If you want to see if we are open you can see our website at http://physics.unm.edu/pandaweb/observatory/

Thanks for checking in with UNM Physics! We encourage high school students to pursue physics as preparation for college. You can view a version of our annual Physics Demo Show here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClhKsr1tDGI Check with his teacher about recommended resources in the topics he is studying. If you were looking for a college student who can tutor your son, you may fill out the UNM off campus student employment form here http://stuemp.unm.edu/off-campus-employer-info/fillform.html#Form You may also check with the Center for Academic Program Support, http://caps.unm.edu/ Good luck with your parenting and stay safe!
