In my experience they treat any case even civil as though it were criminal. They lie about whether a person was served. They literally forge documents and try to pass them off as legitimate to prove proof of service. Why people vote for crooked people running for office is beyond me.

Excellent place to work. I’ve learned trial tactics, ethics, and the practicalities of the legal system at this office. I owe my entire legal career to this office. For new attorneys, put in the work and become competent at your work and you will be rewarded in every aspect.

Fair warning for new attorneys and legal staff: The DA’s Office in Bernalillo County, Albuquerque, New Mexico fatally undervalues both its attorneys and legal staff employed in this office. Everyone is gravely underpaid at every level, harshly overworked, and severely undervalued by their supervisors and managers in every division. Many individuals who come eager to start their career as prosecutors or legal staff are worthy (via resume/education/experience/legal connections) of better opportunities in New Mexico or out of state. Upon their employment, at this DA’s Office, every employee becomes quickly disillusioned when staff is rewarded for their daily hard work by simple “morale” events at Sawmill Market monthly, private office gossip culture, and weekly donuts on Friday mornings. This DA’s Office appears to be where newly licensed attorneys and naïve out-of-state transports are placed in Albuquerque (ABQ), New Mexico to be sized up, researched-investigated and harassed by various other prosecutors and defense attorney's eager to use sleazy, salesmen (or women) tactics to “haze” new attorneys. The sleazy tactics are not warranted, needed, or fun for prosecutors or legal staff to deal with daily while they are perfecting their craft. It is a level of unprofessionalism or as they say “hazing” into the field of law here in ABQ, NM that is unprecedented and unheard of in other legal markets throughout the USA. Advice for new attorneys and legal staff: If offered a job at this DA’s Office, I would suggest you walk away--NO RUN FAR AWAY---to the plenty of OTHER opportunities to work with admirable legal professionals available throughout the State of New Mexico (or out-of-state) for both new and seasoned attorneys. As a new or seasoned attorney, know your worth. Take the time to find a great employer who will value and appreciate your hard work. You can and will be more valued and appropriately compensated at various other legal places of employment in the State of New Mexico.

Worst place to work ever, was hired as IT then when the new DA came in i was "promoted" to the warehouse where i had to deal with paperwork and scanning old cases instead of the job i was hired to do, all lawyers from when i worked there ran as soon as they could due to the massive workload low pay and no reason to stay. i waited years to post this just to make sure they couldnt try to get me for anything posting this. I just wish i lived in bern county just so i could vote against him and his team of idiots that got him elected
