Staying with friends. They told us about Pearl County Store and their barbecue. We picked up a small brisket sandwich to try it. Wow, it was exceptionally good. Today we stopped in for a late lunch. Ordered a brisket meal, large portion. Jason said it's great reheated and I wrongly stated there wouldn't be anything left to take home. Portions were plentiful and the food was excellent. About the best brisket I've had. Comparable to Kansas City barbecue. Cooked just right. Sides were also very good. Highly recommend this place. All the staff was friendly and very courteous.

We got the chopped pork, Mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, and green beans. Plus to top it all off, we got the Oreo Cream pie which was seriously delicious. The Texas toast was perfectly buttery and tasted better than Zaxby’s. The line wasn’t too bad, but wow is this a perfectly kept secret.

I went on a neighbor's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. Pearl's Country Store sits right behind the Marathon gas station which happens to serve some fine tasting BBQ. I ordered a jumbo brisket sandwich for myself, an order of Jumbo 6 bone ribs with collards and cole slaw for sides. The whole order came to about $36 which at first seemed expensive but wanted to see if the price was justified. There were tables (6?) there if you wanted to dine in, but we did takeout. The sandwich was huge😳 so we opened faced the sandwich and split it between us. It was delicious, moist and very tasty. The ribs we ate the next day, again split between us and again, very tasty! The cole slaw was different from what I'm used to but in a positive way as well as the collards which had a hint of heat but was yummy. My only regret was not buying larger sides! I figured each plate cost $9 and will be visiting them again. You know it was good when I'm willing you drive 90 miles roundtrip for some great BBQ😋
