Working with Vancery is a great opportunity. The website is easy to navigate and makes finding consulting opportunities quick and enjoyable. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in industry research- or becoming a private consultant.

There's likely no consulting opportunity. Despite asking numerous times they failed to give any description of the prospective client or the scope of work, both things that any legitimate consultancy would offer so you can assess the relevance and any potential conflicts of interest. It feels like they're just trying to get you to create an account so they can look like a legitimate business. It's a scam at worst and a fake-it-til-you-make-it startup at best. If you're a prospective consultant or client you should tread carefully.

Absolute scammers, beware, I have done consulting for them. First of all they ask you to wait 45 days for the payment. Payment didn't show up on the account, andI have reminded them twice. All I have got was promises that it will be send tomorrow. Nothing happened and I didn't get paid for my time

Questions & Answers

Has anyone booked any work with Vancery, how was the experience?

Christopher Morris | Oct 19, 2020
Lance Muranaga | Oct 19, 2020

Yep. I’ve done a handful of calls on Vancery. Experience is pretty straightforward. A paying client user (professional researcher) reaches out with a project and some screening questions. Then you suggest some times and an invite is automatically sent out and then you dial in, have the conversation and get paid next day. Pretty easy.

How does Vancery make money? Do members pay a fee to Vancery for client referrals?

Agostino DiGiacomo | Oct 19, 2020
Gunnar Gregory | Oct 19, 2020

Professional researchers pay Vancery for access to its platform. On the platform they are able to browse through the database of professional and expert members. Individual members (the professionals and experts) do not pay any fees at all; by having a profile they are just open to making money when the researchers engage them to connect for conversations.

What kind of time commitment does this require?

Consulting engagements on Vancery are limited to 1 hour in length and can be booked around your schedule.

Can I consult on my current employer?

Rosie Wellington | Oct 20, 2019
Vancery Info | Oct 20, 2019

No, you cannot. Consulting about your current employer is prohibited on Vancery. Generally speaking, consultants must be six months removed from their employment at a company before they are eligible to consult on topics related to that company. Additionally, our clients are fully trained on compliance protocol and will never ask you for any proprietary, confidential, or non-public information.
