Sitting here waiting to get my friends ID. There is 5 people working the stations. However every time they finish a customer or 2 they take off into the break room. Then they come back out & repeat the same thing. This station is full of people for appointments. And 1 of the window workers keeps brushing her hair & playing with her jewelry. As busy as this place is they need to stop leaving their windows & get the customers taken care of.
Melissa Baker
They say an appointment is needed but take walk-ins ahead of scheduled appointments. And then, while running behind and with 50 people in the waiting room half the staff went to lunch. We had to wait over an hour after our appointment time just to get a replacement license.... ridiculous!
Margaret Renovat
They never pick up their phone!!!!! Always user busy!!! And going on online things don’t even make sense’ Terrible customer service

During a time when covid is running wild and places like this are low in staff they decide to get rid of all the license kiosks in iowa to make everything harder? Appointment only to get a new license booked out by months. Mine expired and my car got totaled by a drunk driver while parked on a side street. Gotta have a license to go buy a new car. Thankyou iowa.

Lost driver license, what do I need to get a new one.
Are you open on Saturday and what are the times you are open on Saturdays?
A replace license (lost license, change of address, etc.) is $10. A drivers permit or school permit is $8. The cost for a license depends on the type and duration. A regular license is $4 per year so it is $32 for the 8 year license. Search Google for Iowa Driver License Fee Schedule to find the link for more detail information.

If the student is under 18, they need to meet the following requirements to upgrade to a full license: Keep your intermediate license for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before applying for a full license, Maintain a clean driving record for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before applying for a full license, Complete 10 hours of supervised driving while holding your intermediate license. At least two of those hours must be between sunset and sunrise. If they are under 18 and meet those requirements, they need to make an appointment to come in and bring in their intermediate license. A parent would also need to come in to sign a parental consent form. If they are over 18, they can obtain a full license without meeting the requirements above and would just need to make an appointment and bring in their license to get it upgraded. You can make an appointment at:https://iowadot.gov/service-selector

River Place is a "renewal only" center. They don't provide any testing. You'll need to go to a full-service center like Ankeny.

Your license expires on the expiration date printed on the license. The license is valid for driving for an additional 60 days after the expiration date. After 60 days from the expiration date, you may be ticketed for driving with an expired license.
Just bring it into a driver's license station for renewal! She has one year from the expiration date before she needs to test again.
