Beautiful falls. The trail was lovely too. There were plenty of signs with trail maps and benches There were a lot of stairs. We counted about 275 stairs one way.

Be ready for a beautiful hike. The destination is worth the effort. There are stairs and elevation changes. You can get close to the falls or stay at viewing stations. I enjoyed the views down at the river.

Despite the drought, the falls were flowing pretty steadily! Nice hike to them on well maintained trails and steps.

We visited in mid October. The weather was great for hiking. The trail was not crowded at all. We saw about 10 other people total. Aside from quite a few steps at the end the hike is fairly easy. If your are bringing children along along, you will want to be aware that part of the trail runs right along a steep riverbank. The lower falls is beautiful, but the Devil's Kettle itself is truly a sight to behold. This was a great hike that I will be doing again in the future. Definitely worth a visit to see such a spectacular wonder of nature.

Stream gauging proved that the water flows through a vertical cave and drops right back into the main flow again. It doesn't go anywhere. Ping-pong balls etc get smashed to smithereens due to recirculating water before rejoining the main stream. Hydrology is fascinating!
It’s name like that because no one know where the water ends, a lot of people throwed things to see where it ends but the things never came back.
So no one has ever thought to throw something with gps on it in? Come on it’s 2019.....
It is not a city. It is a waterfall in the state of Minnesota in the United States.
As for the question a out the tracking device - I wouldn't know. The gentlemen who told us about Devil's Kettle only told us about the dye. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
No one knows for sure. Scientists recently educated guessed that it just goes into a ground water aquifer
The park itself is free but for all state parks the parking costs about $7 granted you could park elsewhere and walk if you wanted to.
Well you could dive in and find out.....
It is only about 2 miles but if you aren't used to steep incline and a pro at the stairmaster it takes a good bit of time.
Stairs, stairs & a couple more sets of stairs... Up to you
Yea there are plenty of creeks and stuff where the water is either still or calm enough to swim, not to mention you are right next to lake superior as well
I doubt it, the water is cold and moving fast. Kids played in the water but didn't see any animals at all.
Agreed. If you stick to the paths and aren't swimming around in the water above the falls, it's a beautiful falls and a nice hike.
Maybe 10-20 ft across, hard to tell exactly since you cannot get right up to it
Yes. Just Google it
It would be awfully dark most of the way. They did find the exit a few years ago.
You can hike this in the winter, but it can be icy. I would recommend some sort of extra traction on your shoes.
the mystery is where the water actually goes they have done studies with dye and haven't been able to figure it out
Jennifer’s Body, I think

Ping-pong balls etc get smashed to smithereens due to recirculating water before rejoining the main stream. Also due to recirculating water at the base of the falls dyes and colors can very often be diluted and overlooked in deeper water. Hydrology is fascinating!
