Tent camped for 5 nights in the A loop. Our site was small compared to the other campsites we camped at. There was a picnic table and firepit on the site. Clean bathrooms BUT no hand soap only hand sanitizer. Why? Seriously why wouldn't you put soap in the bathrooms I don't understand... No hot showers on the site but only a minute ride away (operated with coins, $3 for 4 min). Also, there's no place to purchase firewood inside the park but like the showers there are bunch of places selling firewood within a few miles. What I liked the most about this campground is that it's quite isolated; there's no road/car noise. Other campers were mostly respectful as well. I suggest walking the ocean path; incredible views and great spot for a sunrise! It's conveniently located close to the most of the hiking trails. The Verizon reception was spotty. I suggest downloading the maps prior your arrival. Oh also in early July waaay tooo many mosquitoes; bug spray isn't optional but necessary!

My rubric for five stars: location, clean, safe, family-friendly, plus the desire to return. This is an amazing place because of the close access to sight seeing spots and hiking trails, carriage trails, and beaches. Slept amazing in this dark sky park and courteous camping neighbors. Close in proximity to a metered shower, firewood and also a small camping supply store to make up for the lack within the park. Moderate AT& T cell signal.

Great campground. Though wish all sites had electricity their organization and ease around made it a minor detail. The area is great and close to many locations. It’s close to many hikes as well. The people we interacted were super helpful as well. The site is spacious and the amenities all worked. The bathrooms were very clean. The bus stop is right on the campsite and makes moving around very easy. There is a nearby ocean view that is spectacular.

This is a fabulous campground! The location is super convenient for hiking and all biking. We parked the truck and didn’t move it again until we left. The campground was busy but you couldn’t tell because everyone was extremely respectful and very quiet. It is also easy to get into town with the free bus!

No. There are independent shower houses along the roads outside where you can get hot showers for quarters.
A lot of families with kids come here. You'll have a lot of fun!
$20 per night at regular campsite. Go to recreation.gov to reserve and see all prices
We went in September with no issue. An absolutely stunning place. If you go, make sure you take the short walk to the rock on the coast to watch the sunrise and the stars. 💗
Each site is different. If you bring an really oversized tent, you may have an issue but 10x10 is not a problem. 10x20 should fit too, but some spots will be a squeeze.
Yes. There are two trails that start within the campground. One leads to the Otter cove area along the ocean and the other is the beginning of the south ridge trail of Cadillac mountain.
I think October 17
You can book multiple nights, they extend the days as it goes so that it is exactly 2 months in advance. If you are booking today you would only be able to book through July 18th. It should definitely say it on their site daily.
Up to a year in advance. If you're looking to go during peak tourist season I would suggest reserving at least 3 months prior
No. It's not allowed. Also, tent sites have boulders and/or trees that prevent pulling a trailer onto the campsite. If you have a pop-up trailer, reserve a site for that equipment, not a tent site.
You can walk to Otter Creek Market which has groceries, beer and they steam lobsters and have chowder. The actual town is a 10 minute drive away.
Cell service used to be very limited on MDI in general, and near Blackwoods it was non-existent. That has changed with a new cell tower in Otter Creek, by AT&T. When we camped there in August 2019, Verizon almost never worked in Blackwoods or anywhere nearby. AT&T always had decent signal, but sometimes was slow anyway, probably due to load at peak times.
The only sites with electric service in Blackwoods are the special ADA sites. As far as I know, not even the full size RV sites have any hookups.
Yes - you can just walk to the cliffs from the campgrounds actually. The campground is located near park loop road, take a look at the map and look for the little trail that takes you to the cliffs across park loop road. No driving needed

Campground open year around. My father camped there once in dead of winter and was the only person in the hundreds of campsites.
No not yet that i know of
Google is your friend: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232508 Depends on the site
I saw many campers do this. The RV sites generally offer electrical outlets for RV plug in, where as general tent camping sites do not.
Yes, in the restrooms.
Yes. That's the best route.
It would have to be very quiet. Your fellow campers are pretty much in view at all times. Not enough space for your average generator.
