The trails were well groomed with beautiful lookout points. Some shaded woods and some sun. We walked the 101 steps down to the lake. Worth the trip! I’ll bet it’s also very beautiful in winter

Looking for a delightful walk in the woods? Lion's Den Gorge should fit the bill. Woods. Water (like Lake Michigan). Vistas. Wild flowers. Even handicap accessibility. There is no fee to use the park. New rest rooms are almost completed.

Well maintained trails that don’t get muddy in the spring, at least in mid-April when we went. Beautiful views of the lake. Great place to spend some time with your pup.

With breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, and plenty of hiking trails, Lion's Den Gorge is a beautiful place to visit throughout the year. Visitors can easily enjoy the views from the top of the bluff, or take the stairs connected via scenic bridges to go all the way down to the beach. The main trail is accessible via stroller/wheelchair, and has chairs for visitors to sit down and soak in the beauty of Lake Michigan. With a new picnic shelter under construction, expect it to become busier during the summer season. If you wish to avoid the summer crowds, visit it during the winter season. It's prettier.

Yes, you can swim at the beach. There is no life guard there, so swim at your own risk. Also, it's about a mile and a half hike to the beach area with plenty of stairs to hike down to get to the beach.
Yes it says dogs are permitted on leash. I also saw someone there walking their dogs the trail, the trails are nice and wide
Yes and no entrance fee!:)
No camping at Lion's Den. Harrington Beach State Park about 25 minutes away, near town of Belgium, has camp sites and a mile of Lake Michigan beach.
There are two types of paths there. Hard packed small gravel and mulch. The main trails seem to all be hard packed gravel which works just fine with wheelchairs and rollators. Some of the wooden "bridges" are uneven (their piers have sunk) so be careful.
There is a wheel chair accessible path which hope so can be used with walker. No paved path though
If you find, yes. There is no posting that says you cannot!
It's definitely private!!
I think because the charity foundation of the "Lions" take care of the property and donated the land.
Its a bunch of trails..easily 5 to 10 miles of trails along the coast. And stairs that lead to the water as well.
There is no parking fee or parking permits needed. Generally parks that require permits also have campgrounds.
No, it is not allowed as this is a Nature Preserve. Thank you for asking.
If you have you your trout/salmon stamp, you could throw a line in at Lake Michican
I've definitely seen wedding parties officially reserve a spot overlooking the bluffs, I'm not sure about the booking logistics though, sorry. It's a beautiful location, so good luck and congratulations!
Absolutely breathtaking. I spent many days there this winter in subzero weather, and totally worth it. If I could add pictures to this message I would, but it is definitely worth checking out.
Yes any hunting will be posted our park will be closed.
