Their lack of communication and call back as it mentioned in the previous reviews still applies.

I have been for 3 days...been attempting to speak with Dr. Finch or a supervisor or anyone regarding one of their patients who is hospitalized in Las Vegas and needs their assistance. No one will return a call to me or to the patient/hospital...Also Edelman is the payee for the patient ...no one will discuss the patients whereabouts/disbursement of funds with the patient. So if you have severe mental problems and you are not financially in the upper bracket...they ignore you...What a crock from an agency that claims to care...!

DO NOT TRUST ANY SOCIAL WORKER WITH FINANCIAL INFORMATION!! I received SSI before I left Los Angeles and moved to another county. The card that my SSI was deposited on was not forwarded to my current address when it expired. When I went in to transfer the funds to my bank account, I discovered someone had withdrawn the entirety of my SSI. Someone at Edelman had gotten my card, went into my CLOSED medical file, got my Social Security card number and my birthdate from it, and then ACTIVATED the new card. They took it to a nearby ATM and withdrew almost EVERYTHING! I was left with no money to pay bills or get groceries because of this dishonest worker. I hope they caught the person and sent them to jail. It had to be one of the social workers there because they were the ones that suggested I have everything sent to Edelman because I was going to be homeless soon and didn't have a permanent address. What a mistake it was, trusting the people that worked here! I will never trust a social worker with my financials again!

In the intake process, the patient is asked if he/she needs help with a variety of services, including housing, financial assistance, and food. If the patient actually asks the agency to help with these things, they don't want to do it. In addition, there are various members of the staff that try to discourage patients from applying for SSI benefits. None of these people are employed by the Social Security Administration. That federal agency has its own doctors and medical experts that are trained to determine disability. Most people (65%) are initially denied SSI benefits, then 85% are denied at the time of reconsideration. Don't let this deter you. As a citizen, you have a right to be considered for these benefits. The adult portion of this clinic is very reliant on medication for the patients. There is not any alternative methods that are offered for treatment, even though some of the medicines that are prescribed are highly addictive or have devastating, life altering side effects. Some of the meds prescribed are even the subject of multi-billion dollar litigation. It's unreasonable to expect patients to achieve any level of self-sufficiency if they are over-medicated. No one can think clearly in a medication fog. It's also my observation that some of the staff do not listen to the patients. A patient or their advocate cannot even get their phone call returned if they voice a concern about how they were treated. This clinic does not operate in a manner as if they are trying to earn or keep the patient's business, because they are a county facility. If this clinic had to compete with private providers for patients, I believe that a real attitude adjustment would occur.

I recommend that they go to Edelman 4th floor for an intake from 8am to 11am. Olympic and Sepulveda. When they get off elevator someone will be there to assist them. I'm a client and also volunteer leading groups and helping people with DPSS issues.

Speak with a social worker for referrals to groups. Of you don't know your social worker's name, stop in at the reception window. Bring id.
