That's only for trout season, the DNR assigns certain locations for stocked trout season and it happens twice a year. You should try it, just make sure you have the trout stamp otherwise you'll get a ticket. Any other time the small lake produces nice size bass as well as catfish. If you're bringing kids they'll have a blast catching sunfish, There's literally millions of them. Good luck and tight lines.
