Starting in March of 2022, Medicare recipients enrolled in Supplement plans in Idaho can change their plan to an equal or lesser plan, starting on their birthday and the 62 days following.

Most commonly during the fall open enrollment period, formally call the Annual Election Period (AEP). This takes place from Oct 15 to Dec 7. Otherwise, you will need a Special Election Period (SEP). For example, moving out of your plan’s coverage area, or retiring and losing employee health coverage.

It is preferable to enroll in the first three months of this timeframe. (*Note that if your birthday in on the first of the month, your coverage starts on the first of the month before your birth month. Thus, your enrollment period starts one month earlier)
