We had my granddaughters birthday party here and it was great! Play area for kids right by the shelter. We were in the Rotary Shelter and it was perfect for about 20 people. There is electric there too, so we could keep hot food hot!

Neat to walk up and enjoy the beautiful view.

Having made the climb recently myself and just looking at the steps in the picture that's posted, I'd say it's closer to 100 steps!
Under normal conditions the restrooms are open april 15 to oct 15
They used to close it after dark.
I think it was removed when they redid the mound last year but dont know why. Ask someone in the city of the burg
Lamar its not there anymore. I just went today and the rails are just wood now and benches at the top. Nothing with information about it anywhere... At least not that i noticed.
From Wikipedia: the mound is believed to have been built by the Adena Culture, about 1000 to 200 BCE.
There's a research facility across and down the road a little. Rumor has it that they have some spiffy nuclear research there underground. The actual mound however is just an old burial/worship site for a tribe of Native Americans.
