There are books published about most coins, hard to give a good answer without knowing what you have.
Depends on rarity and condition, best to take it to the store for an honest answer. Most pennies from 1895 to 1909 in circulated condition are not worth very much.

Harlan J. Berk gives free verbal appraisals. Written appraisals are $150 an hour.
Deena, you need to either bring the coins to Harlen J Burk or call and describe the coins you want to sell.
Most people who come in just want a verbal appraisal which is free. Some people need written appraisals mostly for insurance or estate purposes. We do purchase coins. If we purchase your coins after a written appraisal we will return your fee.
We well new silver dollars (1986 till present) for a few dollars over the silver price. Price fluctuates with silver.
