A lot of neat artifacts from the time of the Oklahoma Land Boom, and an impressive display about women who were pioneers in Oklahoma journalism, and other interesting displays. Was hoping to see more about the experiences of Oklahoma pioneers, particularly women. This was teased in the entryway but not fulfilled in the museum.

The Food was horrible. We ordered lunch. My friend ordered mac and cheese..it was so thick and dry....he turned his bowl over and it never even moved. The spaghetti sauce was straight tomato paste. The only thing we truly enjoyed was the lemon aid. I think that place is based the hype and a lot of first time guests I was extremely disappointed. Maybe things just look better on TV.

The things I never knew! This is a little jewel of a museum. Dedicated to the women who made Oklahoma. Knowledgeable staff, super interesting exhibits, nice little gift shop. This will definitely be a place I bring my guests and grandchildren when they visit.

Questions & Answers

Is there a brick walkway at this museum where individuals/families donated money to the museum? If so, do you have a listing of all the bricks and what each one says? I think my family might have donated and I'd love to have a picture. Thanks.

The brick walkway leads to the main entrance to the museum. Sorry I don't have pictures. Contact the museum directly and they should be able to help.

are you open Monday, Aug. 19?

Closed on Monday and Sunday.

Super sad that my family and I drove 2 hours to visit today, and the museum is closed, even though the website said it would be open....

I am the historical interpreter for the museum. So sorry you were unable to come in to see us. I hope you were still able to have a good time in Ponca City. Not sure what the situation was exactly, as that was some time ago as of my response. If this was in January, we usually close for a week to do inventory. We post any unexpected closures on our doors and Facebook page. The website is run by the Oklahoma Historical Society, and it takes a while for them to make any changes. Otherwise, this is not a common occurrence. For your convenience, we are normally open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Tuesdays through Saturdays.
