This campground is excellent. Very clean and very well organized. The bathrooms are solid and clean. We stayed at all full hook up site. Sewers drain was perfect. Not all busted up like others we've seen. Super close to hiking and sightseeing in Ledges Park. Fire puts are solid and include grille gates. Rates are amazing for what you get. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

We used to live in Boone and camped here every holiday. We stay here when visiting family because the park and campground are beautiful. Most of the campsites are surrounded by lots of trees and bushes giving you a more secluded area to relax. Most other campgrounds you are wall to wall with your neighbors. Not here. Plenty of space. Still amazing even after 40 years. Lots of history in this park with the Native Americans who gathered here. You will not be disappointed.

Nice and large camp sites. Almost all campsites are under shadow. Fortunately we got the walk-in site. Restrooms are clean and maintained well.

We did the hike-in only tent camping and had a great experience! It is helping if you have a sport cart, wagon, something similar help haul gear in. Trail to hike into sites are well taken care of. Good space between campsites as well. Plenty of room for multiple tents. All spaces have a campfire with grate. Didn't feel like we was right on top of our neighbors. Modern bathrooms easy to walk to. Would recommend!

Questions & Answers

There is a stay limit. You can stay for 14 consecutive nights, then must leave from the entire campground for 3 consecutive nights before coming back for another 14-nigjt stay.

Are the campgrounds currently open?

Yes, the campgrounds are open year round at Ledges. The modern restrooms and shower buildings will remain closed though until about mid-April. Electricity is on to those sites equipped with hook-ups and there is a frost-free water hydrant on near the campground entrance. Currently there is a pit vault latrine open and located just west of the campground entrance, but portable toilets will be brought in sometime late this week or early next week and remain there until the modern facilities are opened up. All sites right now are available on a first come, first serve basis and reservations start again for stays from April 1 into the summer season. Please call the park office if you have additional questions (515) 432-1852.

There are two ways to secure a campsite at Ledges. 1 - make a reservation by going to iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com or call toll free to (877) 427-2757.....or 2 - come to the park and try to get a site on a first come, first serve basis. By doing this you'll need to complete the self-registration process here at the park. If you arrive and have questions, you can always stop at one of our campground host sites or call the park office at (515) 432-1852.

How do you print a legible campground map? The site numbers do not show up when printing.

Jerry Koel, we were at the park yesterday and the DNR said to get it off the website but it does not print legible. Hmmmm?
