Very quiet and relaxing place to camp. We only spent 1 night. Not much to do at the campground but the high trestle bridge is close. Took a short hike to the hidden meadow which was very peaceful. Camper pads are pretty level but a little close together for my liking. Didn’t use the bath house but area was clean.

Had an amazing weekend at Swede Point! The tent camping had filled by the time I arrived but Blaine was able to find us a perfect spot. There was even a controlled bonfire by the office on Saturday which was huge and awesome to watch! Also the perfect cat, Tabitha was our snuggle buddy all weekend. We will definitely be back to this cozy campground!

Nice smaller park near the High Trestle Trail. We tent camped and enjoyed the campground and the trails that connect to the grounds. The tenting area was nice with trees overhanging so you felt like you were in the woods. The bathrooms were nice but there was no water allowed to wash your pots and pans. Each campsite was marked out well and included a table and burn pit. The price was acceptable. Would definitely camp here again.

We love exploring new campgrounds. We discovered Swede Point Park by reading great reviews from other campers. It is only 1/4 mile from the Des Moines river. It is a small campground but your campsites are not crowded and running into the people camping next to you. There are clean flush toilets and clean private shower stalls. A playground offers kids a play area and we also noticed a sand volley ball pit and a small basketball court. There are both electrical sites, group/buddy electrical sites and non electrical sites. Numerous walking trails and lots of nature to discover. Woodward is only a few minutes away and noticed there is a gas station and also a bar and grill. Also access points to the high trestle bridge and trail. The campground hosts were very friendly and were on site the entire weekend we were there. We can't wait to visit again!

Is Swede Point open for camping this weekend, Aug. 30? Wondering due to the recent Derecho.

Yes, we were there last week. The camping areas are clear but all of the hiking trails are impassible. The nearby High Trestle Bridge Trail has all been cleared. We rode our bike the full length of the trail. One note... if you are tent camping, I would suggest that you look up. There are a lot of broken branches hanging in the trees. You dont want to put your tent where you might have a limb fall into it.
