No. It only goes as far north as Randolph and Michigan Avenue.

No. The Metra line that goes to Schaumburg is the Milwaukee West. That leaves from Union Station in the south loop. The Metra Electric doesn't go to Union. Take the 28 bus downtown in the morning. It stops at Union station.
Go to south shore train schedule in Google. It is very easy to read.
