This place is horrible. We sat through a graduation and it had to be o er 100 degrees in there. This is the 5th time I have had this experience. I know companies are paying to have their events in the Civic Center. Please, please get the air conditioning fixed

I suppose it depends on what you are taking them there for.. However, i can't think of any event or service that isn't kid friendly.
Their website shows the Fitness Center open M-F 6am-9:30pm.
